Norris hit with Sakhir GP grid drop after engine change

Lando Norris will start his Sakhir GP from the back row following McLaren’s tactical decision to change two engine elements on the Briton’s MCL35.

Norris qualified P15 on Saturday, but the lowly start has compelled McLaren to fit a new ICE and turbocharger to provide its driver with fresh components for the final two races of the season, a tactical switch intended to help the papaya squad defend its crucial third place in the F1 Constructors’ standings.

Ahead of Sunday’s penultimate round, McLaren holds a 17-point advantage over Racing Point, with Renault 27 points behind.

As Norris has exceeded the limits of the two replaced components, the McLaren driver will join Haas Pietro Fittipaldi on the back row of the Sakhir GP grid.

The Brazilian has taken over Romain Grosjean’s car but also the Frenchman’s power unit elements allocation. After receiving a new energy store and control electronics that also surpassed the authorized limits, Fittipaldi was also handed a grid penalty.

However, the rookie’s original P20 qualifying position means he will start behind Norris on the final row of the grid.

Jim Ross Speaks On The WWE Roster Split, Young/Backlund, & Orton's Return

Jim Ross recently took the opportunity to comment on some current events on WWE programming in his latest blog post. On JRsBarBQ.com, Ross think it’s a given that Randy Orton will attack Chris Jericho in some way at Battleground.

“I can only assume that Randy Orton will be involved in some level of physicality at Battleground in the Jericho Highlight Reel, but that’s merely speculation,” J.R. wrote. “Why bring The Viper back to only talk Lesnar and Summer Slam without giving the audience something memorable to take with them?”

Ross also said he was surprised by Darren Young winning the battle royal on RAW, and thinks his IC Title shot against The Miz will bring more awareness to Young. J.R. says that Young’s ongoing presentation with Bob Backlund as “suddenly developed a stronger pulse.”

The other big topic on WWE programming is the upcoming draft and brand split. Ross says while he’s optimistic about the talent redistribution between RAW and SmackDown, many hardcore fans seem to be second-guessing it.

“WWE will likely be ‘damned if they do’ and ‘damned if they don’t’ regarding this major development that could potentially be one of the most dynamic developments in WWE in years,” Ross wrote. “I think the brand separation jury will be out until Orlando in April and I’m patient enough to give it that long before I pull my my soap box and “judge” it.”

WWE Announces SummerSlam Concert With Flo Rida To Benefit Connor's Cure

Stephanie McMahon announced that WWE will be holding a special concert featuring Flo Rida to benefit the Connor’s Cure charity during her recent appearance on “The Elvis Duran And The Morning Show.”

Subsequently, WWE issued the following press release with comments from Stephanie McMahon, Flo Rida and other WWE executives.

WWE SummerSlam concert featuring Flo Rida to benefit Connor’s Cure

WWE, Barclays Center and iHeartMedia have announced that the first WWE SummerSlam Concert will take place Thursday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. ET at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, with proceeds benefiting Connor’s Cure, a fund to help further pediatric cancer research.

The announcement was made by Stephanie McMahon on “Elvis Duran and the Morning Show.”

Tickets for the concert, headlined by hip-hop recording artist Flo Rida and international pop superstar Jason Derulo, will go on sale this Friday, July 29, at 12 p.m. ET at Ticketmaster.com. The concert is part of WWE’s week-long lineup of events, including interactive fan experiences and community outreach programs, culminating with SummerSlam on Sunday, Aug. 21, at 7 p.m. ET from a sold-out Barclays Center and live on WWE Network around the world.

The WWE SummerSlam Concert will also include performances by recording artist Daya and emerging hip-hop recording artist Jordan Hollywood, as well as appearances by WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon, WWE Executive Vice President Talent, Live Events & Creative Paul “Triple H” Levesque and many WWE Superstars.

A portion of proceeds from the concert will benefit Connor’s Cure, and be distributed to leading research centers and hospitals nationwide. In 2014, Connor’s Cure was created by McMahon and Levesque as a fund within Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation to support pediatric brain and spinal cord cancer research. Earlier this year, WWE and The V Foundation announced a partnership to expand Connor’s Cure outside of Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh Foundation and support cancer research nationally.

“I’m definitely honored to be a part of this spectacular event with my WWE family,” said Flo Rida. “They have been there from day one, and I truly appreciate the opportunity to perform for all my WWE fans.”

“We are proud to bring together some of the biggest names in music and entertainment for one night to support Connor’s Cure,” said WWE Chief Brand Officer Stephanie McMahon. “The first-ever WWE SummerSlam Concert will offer fans another opportunity to participate in SummerSlam Week while raising much-needed awareness and funds to support pediatric cancer research.”

“Partnering with WWE is a very heartfelt experience,” said Susan Braun, CEO, The V Foundation. “The V Foundation is honored to work side by side with Stephanie McMahon, Paul Levesque and the entire WWE team to increase the amount of research devoted to children’s cancers. Our world-class scientific advisory committee, who oversees the highly competitive V Foundation Grant process, ensures that the most important work is being funded: Research that will lead to saving children’s lives.”

“We’re excited to bring the first-ever WWE SummerSlam Concert to Barclays Center through our Brooklyn Direct programming division,” said Brett Yormark, CEO of Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment. “We’re in our second year of a sold-out SummerSlam Weekend, and are proud to bring a new element of entertainment to this great series of events.”

Connor’s Cure was established in honor of 8-year-old WWE fan Connor Michalek, a patient at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC who battled medulloblastoma, a rare tumor that affects the brain and spinal cord. To date, Connor’s Cure has raised more than $1 million and assisted more than 100 families around the world.

Grammy nominated Flo Rida is one of music’s best-selling artists, having sold more than 80 million records worldwide. Part of the WWE family, Flo Rida has performed at WrestleMania, hosted Monday Night Raw and participated in WWE’s Tribute to the Troops. Originally from Carol City, Fla., his 2008 breakout single “Low” was No. 1 for 10 weeks in the United States and broke the record for digital download sales at the time of its release. His 2014 single, “My House,” which was a WrestleMania 32 theme song, became his tenth Top 10 hit in the United States. His catalog also includes the international hit singles “Right Round,” “Club Can’t Handle Me,” “Good Feeling,” “Wild Ones,” “Whistle,” “I Cry” and “G.D.F.R.”

International pop superstar Jason Derulo is one of the most successful and sought-after artists in the industry today. In the six years since ascending to superstardom, Derulo has sold more than 55 million singles worldwide, all of which have been co-written by the artist himself. His music has been streamed more than six billion times on Spotify, and his singles have aired on radio to an audience of over 17 billion since his debut single “Whatcha Say.” His four acclaimed studio albums have accumulated 11 Top 10 singles.

Platinum recording artist Daya drives pop music down a different path as an independent artist scaling the pop charts. Her single “Hide Away” went platinum in January 2016, just one month after being certified gold. With more than 50 million streams on Spotify, a Top 10 iTunes Pop sales chart placement and No. 7 on Shazam’s Top 100, “Hide Away” reached a new BillBoard Hot 100 high at No. 24 earlier this year. Daya follows “Hide Away” with her second single “Sit Still, Look Pretty” and a full album to be released later this year.

South Florida rapper and songwriter Jordan Hollywood is blowing up the charts. His critically acclaimed mixtape “Sorry For This” received the highest praise from all of the major blogs and has more than 4 million streams across his social platforms. Hollywood’s “Trill” has been chosen as the song of the month for the iHeartRadio Digital Artist Integration Program. His single “The Truth” is quickly becoming the hottest song in Miami, winning the 99 Jamz Battle Jamz nine times consecutively and counting. Hollywood is also a noted writer and has co-written songs for Derulo and French Montana.

WWE Universe, don’t miss the first WWE SummerSlam Concert Thursday, Aug. 18, at 7 p.m. ET at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, with proceeds benefiting Connor’s Cure. Tickets for the concert, headlined by hip-hop recording artist Flo Rida and international pop superstar Jason Derulo, will go on sale this Friday, July 29, at 12 p.m. ET at Ticketmaster.com.

Conor McGregor On Cena: "40 Year Old Failed Mr. Olympia Mother F*cker"

Those who were hoping the Conor McGregor vs. WWE feud would die already are going to be waiting a bit longer, as “The Notorious” one spoke more about the company and some of its’ talent during his official UFC 202 Media Day Q&A.

The WWE Superstar that McGregor seemed to zero in on the most was John Cena, the top star of the promotion for well over ten years. When he was asked about his recent beef with WWE, McGregor brought up Cena and immediately started firing shots at the popular wrestling star.

“What’s the main guy? John Cena. He’s 40. He’s 40 years of age. He’s walking around in a luminous orange t-shirt and a headband talking about nobody can see him. We can see him right there. He’s a big fat, 40-year-old failed Mr. Olympia mother f*cker.”

When McGregor made his initial remarks towards WWE and some of their talent, referring to them as “messed up p*ssies,” among those who were quick to fire back at the UFC star was WWE Hall Of Famer “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair.

Flair, who took most of his persona and overall act from Buddy Rogers, a legend who preceded him in the pro wrestling business, posted a tweet where he criticized McGregor for stealing his brash, trash-talking rich guy gimmick. In response to “Naitch,” McGregor simply pointed out the fact that what he does for a living is real, so he couldn’t possibly be a gimmick.

“I don’t know what to say to Ric Flair. This ain’t no gimmick. This is the real sh*t. I’ve gotta get in and fight a man for real. With no script, with no nothing. He was talking about bringing some other wrestler guys out to challenge me. Come bring it, then. This is the real shit over here. You know want to come over, we can fight no problem. A few of them are talking about the street and all. If they want to do that, come at me and see what happens.”

As the WWE-related talk continued, McGregor reiterated a point he made during the aforementioned UFC 202 media call regarding the fact that he has respect for some WWE figures, specifically naming the same group of people he did the first time around — WWE Chairman Vince McMahon and along with Hulk Hogan, arguably two of the biggest stars in the history of the company — “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson. This time, strangely enough, he added Ric Flair’s name to the list of WWE stars he does like.

“Like I said, no disrespect to the dons of the game, the McMahons. [WWE CEO Vince McMahon] is a f*cking legend. They wrote Vinny off a few years ago when he dropped from the billions and then he rose back up and now he’s back in the billionaire club. What he’s been able to do with that bunch of dweebs he has over there at the moment has been phenomenal and I respect him for that. And then of course the OGs of the game, The Rock, Stone Cold, they’re cool mother f*ckers. Even Ric Flair is a cool mother f*cker.”

As far as everyone not named McMahon, Austin, Rock or Flair, McGregor tried to elaborate on his issue with them, but didn’t really have anything specific to support his “dweeb” or previous “messed up p*ssies” claims.

“I’m just speaking the truth. That new age of those guys are absolute dweebs. They just seem messed up in the head. I don’t know what it is. When I listen to them talk, when I listen to them carry themselves, they just don”t seem right in the head. That might have been a bit rudeness for me to say, but again: It ain’t trash talk, it’s truth talk.”

In closing, McGregor pointed out his ability to get the top stars from multiple sports and entertainment companies to focus their time and energy on him, something that clearly just helps broaden the awareness level of himself and the sport of MMA in general.

“I’ve got them all wrapped up on my little finger. The boxing game, the MMA game. Now I’ve got those wrestling dweebs in here as well. I’ve got the whole sh*t locked up.”

Conor McGregor will look to avenge his first and thus far only defeat inside the Octagon when he meets Nate Diaz in an immediate 170-pound rematch in the main event of next Saturday’s UFC 202 pay-per-view.

UFC 202: Diaz vs. McGregor 2 takes place on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from the new T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
