The rumor mill has been running at full-steam in recent weeks, with reports claiming that WWE Hall of Famer Edge is preparing for a return to the ring – rumors he has categorically denied, twice – and the impending arrival of the annual Royal Rumble pay-per-view certainly hasn’t helped.
According to Dave Metlzer via Wrestling Observer Radio, he was told by sources inside WWE that the “Rated-R Superstar” is not currently slated as WWE Champion Brock Lesnar’s opponent for WrestleMania 36. So far, both UFC legend Cain Velasquez and undefeated boxer Tyson Fury have also been shot down as potential opponents.
Whether or not Edge is actually gearing up for a return has been a huge topic of discussion recently. The 11-time world champion was forced to retire in 2011, at just 38-years-old, after doctors diagnosed him with cervical spinal stenosis.

It was said at the time that he risked paralysis or worse if he continued to wrestle, but as we’ve seen science and medicine have advanced dramatically in recent years. Of course, it was also said that Daniel Bryan could never safely wrestle again, and yet we are three weeks away from him competing for the Universal title at the Rumble.
Kevin Nash recently posted old photos of his knees basically deformed and pointing in awkward directions, but now claims that after surgery and procedures, he feels better functionally than he has since the 80s. Never say never, as the old saying goes.
