Some of the more newsworthy elements of Shane McMahon’s “tell-all podcast” Monday night on WWE Network were things that went unsaid.
Shane did not address his future in the company, specifically whether he is staying with WWE in a more regular role after WrestleMania.
Shane also gave brief answers to questions about his brother-in-law Triple H. Podcast host Mick Foley said it sounded like Shane was being evasive talking about Hunter. Shane denied having a contentious relationship with Hunter, but he did not endorse him, either.
Asked about the nature of his relationship with Hunter, Shane said he’s happy that he makes his sister, Stephanie, happy. When pressed further, Shane deflected the question to say that there is no contention whether people want to believe him or not.
Foley flashed back to when Hunter and Stephanie married in the early 2000s. As Stephanie’s older brother, Shane said as long as Stephanie was happy, he was fine with it. But, he was upset back then for two reasons.
Shane said it was breaking the locker room rules as a wrestler dating someone from the office, especially the boss’s daughter. What also hurt him is that it was kept from him for a while, so “that didn’t feel good.” But, other than that, as long as Hunter makes Stephanie happy, he’s fine with the relationship.
Foley brought up whether Shane feels any “jealousy” toward Stephanie (and indirectly Hunter) over Stephanie’s position in the company after he walked away from his executive position in the company. “Zero,” Shane replied.
The overall discussion about Shane and Hunter also points to potential interaction on WWE TV when Hunter returns. WWE held off on Shane and Hunter interacting before WrestleMania, Hunter has not appeared on TV since WrestleMania, and the authority figure storyline has developed into Shane and Stephanie running Raw together.
