Santi Aouna is reporting that Chelsea’s Datro Fofana (20) is awaiting the club’s confirmation before completing his loan move to Ligue 1 side OGC Nice.
The negotiations over a loan, that wouldn’t include a purchase option, continue to take place. Meanwhile, the player himself, who only arrived from Molde for around €12m this winter, already has an agreement in place with Les Aiglons. The Ligue 1 side want to partner him with Terem Moffi (23), who finally arrived from FC Lorient earlier on transfer deadline day.
Aouna earlier reported that Nice weren’t the only club in for Fofana this month. Bundesliga side Bayer Leverkusen are also interested in taking the player on a simple loan, however, Fofana’s preference is for a move to the Allianz Riviera.
Due to the competition in the forward areas at the London club, and the heavy recruitment in that area of the field, Fofana does look set to be loaned out for the remainder of the season in order to continue his development elsewhere with Chelsea open to him departing before the closure of the window in the coming hours.
