Oklahoma State, Penn State, Michigan, Iowa and Ohio State remained in the top five. None of the five teams saw dual meet action since the season’s start on November 1. That will change this week as No. 4 Iowa hosts No. 1 Oklahoma State at the Grapple on the Gridiron, a dual meet held on the football field at Kinnick Stadium in Iowa City. The event, weather permitting, is expected to shatter the NCAA single-dual attendance record set by Penn State on Dec. 8, 2013 at the Bryce Jordan Center.
The Cowboys again garnered 10 of the 12 possibe first-place votes. Penn State and Michigan each received one first-place vote.
There was some movement as a result of Virginia Tech’s 32-3 victory over then-No. 13 Iowa State on Saturday. While the Hokies stayed up at No. 6, the Cyclones fell five spots to No. 18.
Lehigh got pushed by Bucknell 23-12 in the EIWA opener, but the Mountain Hawks remained at No. 7.
With Iowa State falling five spots, North Carolina, Wisconsin and Old Dominion each moved up a spot. Minnesota moved up a spot to No. 16 as the Golden Gophers defeated South Dakota State, Grand Canyon and Virginia at home on Saturday.
West Virginia jumped two spots after opening up with wins over Drexel, Campbell and Arizona State.
Virginia moved into the Top 25 after knocking off then-No. 25 North Dakota State 25-14 in Fargo, N.D. on Friday. Central Michigan also broke into the Top 25 after wins over Rider and Purdue at the Eastern Michigan Duals.
Edinboro and North Dakota State fell out of the Top 25.
