The Tonga Kid Recalls A Backstage Shoot Fight Between Haku and Brutus The Barber Beefcake

The Tonga Kid is from a long list of amazing Samoan wrestlers from the Fatu-Anoa’i family. Recently he spoke with The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling for a very emotional and sincere podcast interview. He shared the background of how he joined his family in the wrestling business, the huge matches he was thrust into at an early age and the bond and family heartbreak that came with losing members of the Fatu-Anoa’i family. In this excerpt, TK shares a story about his former Islanders tag team partner Haku (AKA King Tonga) and a fight he had backstage with Brutus Beefcake after “The Barber” complained to management about how stiff their tag team matches were. The full episode is avaialbe for download at this link.

Below is what Tonga had to say on the fight, with an h/t to The Two Man Power Trip of Wrestling for the transcription:

“I know. I’ve seen it with my own two eyes in the dressing room. I’ve seen him take up Brutus “The Barber” Beefcake in the dressing room because of the fact when they had The Dream Team with Beefcake and Greg “The Hammer” (Valentine) and the blonde guy Johnny Valiant that in our matches Haku was chopping him so hard and I had kicked him real hard, which I just liked picking on people because I know they aren’t going to mess with me (because of Tonga) but I didn’t know King Tonga was going to chop him that hard. When he chops you, you can feel it in your soul. That is how hard he hits you and how hard King Tonga chops you. So he (Beefcake) goes back and tells Vince that he didn’t want to wrestle us and he wanted to wrestle another team because the fact is that we are hitting him too hard. I said to him if you can’t take a chop than you are in the wrong business. Maybe you should find another job or something and he didn’t do it once he did it again and again and he thought it was funny and he kept doing it over. So King Tonga walked over to him and grabbed him by the throat in the shower and yanked him straight up and lifted him right up like three or four inches off the ground. Of course Hogan is going to run in there and help him because that is his boy. That is like his little boy that can go like get him hamburgers and pick up all of his clothes or whatever you want to call him almost like his “butler” I guess so of course Hogan is going to run over there.”

“When the rest of the guys ran over to help Beefcake, I am going to throw this out there that nobody came close. Pat Patterson and Vince McMahon had to come in himself to calm down and tell Haku to take it easy. Even with Hogan as part of that too, but trust me if you saw the look Haku had in his eyes when he had Beefcake lifted up, nobody was going to come near him whatsoever if it wasn’t for me and maybe Pat Patterson.”

BREAKING: Renee Young Joins WWE Raw Commentary Team Full Time

WWE has announced that broadcaster Renee Young will be joining the Monday Night Raw commentary team on a full-time basis from now on.

Renee is set to make history by becoming the first ever full-time female commentator in WWE history and will replace Jonathan Coachman and will join Corey Graves and Michael Cole on a weekly basis.

Renee has been on the commentary table replacing The Coach several times recently and is part of the team for the Mae Young Classic alongside Cole and Beth Phoenix. It is unknown at this time whether she will continue in her other positions backstage on SmackDown Live and hosting the pre-show panels for PPV’s.

Several people have already jumped to social media to congratulate Renee, with Bayley claiming that it is deserved and Liv Morgan stating that it’s awesome.

How Was This Week’s WWE Smackdown Viewership On the Final Stop Before Hell in a Cell?

This week’s episode of WWE Smackdown Live, which boasted a stacked card announced in advance, featured Shinsuke Nakamura vs Jeff Hardy and a main event of Brie Bella vs Maryse.

This week’s WWE Smackdown was also the last stop on the road to WWE Hell in a Cell this Sunday night, and much like Raw this week the show saw an audience drop, reports ShowBuzz Daily. The report notes this week’s WWE Smackdown viewership averaged 2.229 million, which is down from last week’s 2.319 million viewership average for the show which aired the day after the Labor Day holiday.

This week’s WWE Smackdown Live, which also featured the finals of the Smackdown Tag Team Title tournament along with Becky Lynch surprise attacking Charlotte Flair yet again, ranked #7 in overall cable television viewership for the night.

Renee Young sits down with Zelina Vega after she appeared on the Sept. 11 edition of SmackDown LIVE, 17 years after her father passed away in the World Trade Center attacks.

Lars Sullivan is one of the largest superstars in the entire WWE universe. He’s terrorized NXT for awhile now, and has come very close to claiming NXT titles a few times. He put his brute strength on display in the gym, benching 315 lbs. 20 consecutive times.

Lio Rush shared a video on Instagram showing a phone call with Bobby Lashley. The two exchanges vague words about an upcoming plan, but did specifically mention Dallas. Monday Night Raw will air from Dallas this coming Monday, so it seems like we might find out then what this plan is all about.

Rush also thinks Fortnite is ruining kids brains and just dropped a diss track on Noam Dar.

Watch: Becky Lynch Gets Her Custom Plates, Miz Hosts Miz TV With “Special Guest,” Randy Orton Reviews Footage

WWE has uploaded several new videos to its YouTube channel from tonight’s SmackDown Live, including Becky Lynch getting her title plates.

In the first video, which you can see at the top of the article in the video player, WWE replaces Charlotte Flair’s title plates on the WWE Women’s Championship with Becky Lynch’s.

Miz Hosts Miz TV With “Special Guest”

In the second video, WWE has shown highlights from tonight’s Miz TV segment which featured his very special guest, Maryse. It also shows clips from when Maryse attempted to fake an injury in order to get the upper hand, but as you can see below, Bryan managed to overcome the situation.

Randy Orton Reviews Footage

In the final clip, WWE showed a segment involving Randy Orton where the Viper storms the production truck, forcing the WWE employee to show the footage from Hell In A Cell, teasing he will do worse to his next opponent.

WWE Raw General Manager, Paige was backstage last night during Monday Night Raw. According to PWInsider.com she was busy doing work related to Survivor Series, reportedly shooting content with acting GM, Baron Corbin.
