Torch passed. Grateful. This past weekend @WWE celebrated the 17th anniversary of what was billed as “ICON vs ICON” to determine who would go down in @WWE history as THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME. It was yours truly, VS The Immortal Hulk Hogan at WrestleMania. What made this match so special was that there was no Heavyweight Championship on the line. Just two men. Just two careers. And 85,000+ of the most insane ELECTRIC crowd I have ever had the privilege to perform in front of. It was almost as if every single person that night in the Toronto SkyDome made up their mind that they would give every ounce of energy they had because they knew this match was only going to be seen once in a lifetime. My friend and childhood hero, Hulk Hogan passed the torch to me on this historic night which decreed me becoming “THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME”, but the truth is – to me – the GOAT are the three men who paved the way for me and so many others in pro wrestling/ @hulkhogan @ricflairnatureboy @steveaustinbsr I just worked very hard, connected with the audience and caught a break. These GOATS were good enough to recognize I had something to offer and graciously passed the torch. Grateful.

Impact Wrestling Results (3/22): Rich Swann & Sami Callihan War Over The X-Division Title

Impact Wrestling Results
March 22, 2019
Las Vegas, NV

(1) MOOSE def. TREY MIGUEL

— Sami Callihan showed up on the oVe cam about taking the X-Division Championship from Rich Swann, because he turned his back on his family.

— Tessa Blanchard was interviewed and said that Gail Kim being suspended one week wasn’t nearly enough and demanded that Impact send her to the ring to issue a public apology, or they’ll be hearing from her lawyers.

— Johnny Impact will defend the Impact World Championship against Brian Cage in the main event of next week’s Rebellion pay-per-view. That is NOT the show in New York, but the show at the end of the month.

(2) EDDIE EDWARDS & ELI DRAKE def. KM & FALLAH BAHH

— Rolando tried to interview Johnny and Taya as they arrived to the building, but Johnny walked right past him and said he’d find out at the same time as the rest of the “marks” in the crowd.

— Willie Mack tells his friend Rich Swann that he’s got his back in the X-Division Championship match tonight, but they were interrupted by Ethan Page, who told Mack to focus on their match tonight.

(3) ACE AUSTIN def. DAMIEN HYDE

— Madison Rayne returns…soon!

— Johnny and Taya came out to a ton of heat. Impact said that he did what he did to Brian Cage because of the fans. He has defended the Impact World Championships against everyone without complaining, but all the fans care about is him doing high-risk moves and nearly killing himself. He said that Cage may not make it to the end of April to face him at Rebellion, because hey, accidents happen…

(4) WILLIE MACK def. ETHAN PAGE

— Gail Kim came out of a meeting room with Impact management. She said they were taking things very seriously — cameras cut her off because there was a giant brawl going on between LAX and the Lucha Bros. somewhere else in the arena. Security finally got in between the two groups, until Konnan said that all LAX ever wanted was a rematch. They could have avoided this.

— Willie Mack was attacked backstage in his locker room by oVe. After a loud scuffle we could only hear from behind a closed door, Mack actually walked out of the room and locked the Crist brothers inside.

(5) RICH SWANN (c) def. SAMI CALLIHAN TO RETAIN THE X-DIVISION CHAMPIONSHIP

— After the main event, Callihan went after Swann with a steel chair but got taken down. Swann threatened to hit him with the chair instead, but former NXT & MLW star “Mad Man” Sawyer Fulton ran out and took out the champion with a chokeslam. Mack ran down to make the save, but Fulton dropped him as well. Callihan brutally attacked Swann with his baseball bat and posed with Fulton, the newest member of the oVe family.

Johnny Gargano Reflects on Being Rejected by NXT in 2015: “I Didn’t Take No For an Answer”

Johnny Gargano recently Tweeted about his struggles breaking into WWE. That time of his career came in 2015, when he tried out for NXT, only to be rejected.

Johnny Wrestling said that he actually still has the rejection email from that tryout and that he looks at it sometimes as a reminder of how far he’s come. Gargano fought hard to get his spot in Vince McMahon’s company and he was determined to keep pushing until he got what he wanted.

But Gargano also mentioned that he had the fans to thank for his success. Fans chanted “Johnny Wrestling” and WWE listened. The rest is history.

Now Johnny Wrestling is headed to the biggest match of his pro wrestling career on April 5 at Takeover: New York. On that night, Gargano will face off against Adam Cole for the vacant NXT Championship. It’s indeed a huge moment for Johnny and one that should steal the show at Takeover.

The NXT Championship was most recently held by Gargano’s former tag team partner and bitter rival, Tommaso Ciampa. Ciampa was forced to relinquish the title due to neck surgery, which opened the door for Johnny Wrestling to climb the ladder of title glory on the black and gold brand.

It didn't matter if it was a dark match in Full Sail or my 1st TakeOver at the Barclays Center..

YOU chanted "Johnny Wrestling".. YOU believed in me.. and they listened.

We fought together to make any of this happen.

We will fight to make one last dream come true in New York.

LOOK: Kofi Kingston Takes His Place in WWE’s Hall of Champions

WWE has added Kofi Kingston to its Hall of Champions. The newly crowned WWE champion was featured in a photoshoot on the company’s website, where he posed with the title.

Kofi takes his place on the list of every Superstar to wear WWE’s primary championship belt. That long list includes John Cena, Randy Orton, AJ Styles, CM Punk, Batista, Triple H, Rey Mysterio and Hulk Hogan, among many others.

Kingston realized his world title dreams at WrestleMania 35 on April 6, when he defeated Daniel Bryan for the belt. Kofi fought to get another title opportunity after The Elimination Chamber, where he stepped up in the featured match as a replacement for the injured Mustafa Ali.

There have been a total of 40 WWE champions since the title’s inception in 1963. Kofi is the first African-born WWE champion and many fans are surely hoping he will keep the title for the foreseeable future. Kingston had a long road to the championship, as he spent 11 years in the company before finally getting a run with the prestigious title.

Dustin Rhodes Comments On Leaving WWE, AEW’s Schedule, & Wednesday Night Wars

AEW’s Dustin Rhodes recently spoke with SportsKeeda.com about a variety of topics including his decision to leave WWE and the current Wednesday Night Wars.

On leaving WWE and why AEW was the right fit for him:

Click Here: newcastle knights rugby store

“With the WWE, I’d had enough. It was time for me to go. It had been such a long, storied career with the Goldust character and, you know, I really thought that I was going to retire,” Rhodes admitted. “And then I got pulled in and my passion got reignited when I wrestled my brother, and we had the match of the last decade, probably, if not the last two decades.

“It was such a story, a great match. The schedule is a lot different, so it takes some getting used to. We were on the road so much up there that you don’t have any time at home with your family and here, with AEW, I love it man! The scheduling is great. I leave Tuesday to go to the production meeting, Wednesday’s TV, come home Thursday and whatever else I want to do I’m free to do, which I did not have that freedom to do anything that I wanted to do outside of wrestling up there. They made it very, very difficult and that’s one of the reasons why I left.”

On the Wednesday Night Wars:

“You know, I don’t look at it as, ‘Okay, we need to focus on NXT.’ I look at it as we need to put out the best weekly television series that we possibly can every single week and we’ve been doing that. We have been doing that, our fan base is there and they are growing,” stated Rhodes.

“We are an alternative to the WWE programming. We are something very, very special that the fans have commanded and wanted for a long time and we are giving it to them. So me, personally, I’m not looking at NXT saying, ‘Oh, my God, they done this this week, we need to do this,’ and go back and forth. I don’t like that, I’m not focused on that, I’m focused on my kids, our kids here at AEW because they are the future right now to me and our company.”

VIDEO: Hulk Hogan & Sgt. Slaughter Rewatch Their WrestleMania VII Match

WWE Hall of Famers Hulk Hogan and Sgt. Slaughter are featured in a new video, sitting down to rewatch their classic main event match from WrestleMania VII. Check out the video below.

For those who either weren’t alive in 1991 or simply haven’t explored this ridiculous period in WWF history, Slaughter’s character at the time was that of a turncoat Iraqi sympathizer smack dab in the middle of the Gulf War. Hulk Hogan was… well, Hulk Hogan.
