PREVIEW: WWE NXT Prepared for War – 3 Title Matches, Gargano in Action, Dream Returns & More

Tonight is the night!

WWE NXT brings its full two-hour broadcast to the USA Network for the very first time tonight, with three titles on the line and all the bells and whistles imaginable, as they prepare to go to battle head-to-head with AEW Dynamite on TNT.

This evening’s jam-packed show will be headlined by a defense of the NXT Championship, as the Undisputed Era’s leader Adam Cole puts his title on the line against the “Original Bro” Matt Riddle. The former UFC fighter defeated Killian Dain in part two of their Street Fight last Wednesday night to earn the opportunity. While Riddle is still beat up from his multi-week brawl, WWE is teasing that Cole may have suffered an injury due to a an attack from his challenger that put his arm in a sling.

The black-and-gold brand’s top prize may be on the line, but that’s just one of THREE titles to be defended before the night is over.

The “Queen of Spades” Shayna Baszler narrowly retained the NXT Women’s Championship against Rhea Ripley a few weeks back, and only because her Horsewomen allies intentionally interfered in the bout. This time around she’ll face Candice LeRae – one of the best women wrestling in the world, who is really just now getting her chance to shine in NXT.

We’re not even close to being done yet.

After the Undisputed Era’s Bobby Fish and Kyle O’Reilly regained the NXT Tag Team Championships during NXT’s debut on the USA Network, the Street Profits will get what may be their last opportunity at winning back the belts.

We’ll also see Johnny Gargano return to action for the first time on the USA Network, facing off against Shane Thorne, and the Velveteen Dream speaks for the first time since losing the NXT North American Championship to Roderick Strong.

Don’t forget tonight’s two-hour special will actually have a 15-minute overrun, in addition to being presented with limited commercial interruptions. WWE will also be airing a live Watch-a-Long segment on all of their social media channels featuring a rotating panel of WWE and NXT Superstars.

WrestleMania 36 Results: Brock Lesnar vs Drew McIntyre, WWE Championship

Drew McIntyre defeated Brock Lesnar in the main event of WrestleMania 36 night two, to become the new WWE World Heavyweight Champion. The 2020 Royal Rumble winner survived multiple F5s, and in the end delivered a total of FOUR Claymore Kicks to slay the “Beast Incarnate”.

McIntyre tries to go after Brock, but Brock surprises Drew with a German Suplex! He picks up Drew and delivers another one! Brock picks up Drew McIntyre and puts him on his shoulders…..AND HITS AN F5!! Brock goes for the cover, but DREW KICKS OUT AT ONE! DREW KICKS OUT AT ONE!!

Brock can’t believe it but he picks up Drew once again and he hits Drew with ANOTHER F5! Brock goes for the cover but this time Drew kicks out at two! Heyman tells him to keep doing it, so he picks up Drew and hits him with another! 1………….2…………….Drew just BARELY kicks out! Brock picks up Drew for another and Drew gets out, pushes Brock off the ropes, and then delivers a Claymore!

Jussie Smollett épargné par la justice, mais Chicago lui réclame une somme folle

Comme le rapporte la presse outre-Atlantique, la ville de Chicago a envoyé une lettre à Jussie Smollett lui réclamant le paiement de 130 106 dollars. Une somme correspondant aux frais dépensés par les forces de l’ordre pour mener l’enquête dans le cadre de son agression présumée survenue en janvier dernier.

L’acteur de 36 ans, qui ne sera pas jugé car la procureur de la ville a préféré abandonner toutes les charges qui pesaient contre lui, est soupçonné d’avoir orchestré une fausse agression avec l’aide de deux complices afin d’augmenter sa notoriété et, par extension, ses possibilités de revenus. Malheureusement, dans la mesure où il échappe à la justice, on n’aura jamais le fin mot de l’affaire… Jussie Smollett, qui a été vu quittant la ville le 27 mars 2019, avait été arrêté et mis en examen pour faux témoignage après avoir lui-même porté plainte pour une agression à caractère raciste et homophobe.

La ville de Chicago compte bien obtenir de l’acteur d’Empire cette coquette somme pour apaiser la colère des forces de l’ordre, au lendemain de la décision de la justice de ne pas le poursuivre. “Dans une tentative de résoudre cette affaire sans mener d’autres actions juridiques, la ville réclame le paiement immédiat de 130 106, 15 dollars, dépensés en heures supplémentaires pour mener l’enquête sur cette affaire. Si la somme devait ne pas être réglée, le département de la justice pourrait lancer une procédure contre vous pour faux témoignage en vertu de l’article 1-21-010 du code municipal de Chicago ou exercer tout autre recours légal possible“, indique le courrier.

L’entourage de Jussie Smollett a répondu via un communiqué publié dans le Chicago Tribune : “C’est le maire et le chef de la police qui doivent à Jussie des excuses pour avoir traîné un innocent dans la boue. Jussie a assez payé.“

Laura Smet avec sa mère Nathalie Baye : superbes face à une “Inconnue”

Après Demain tout commence, le réalisateur Hugo Gélin revient avec la comédie romantique Mon inconnue. Dans ce long métrage, il filme François Civil et Joséphine Japy, qui forment un couple plus qu’uni. Sauf que du jour au lendemain, le héros se retrouve plongé dans un monde où il n’a jamais rencontré l’héroïne. Comment va-t-il s’y prendre pour reconquérir la femme de sa vie, devenue une parfaite inconnue ? Un pitch alléchant qui a attiré une foule de personnalités lors de l’avant-première à Paris le 1er avril 2019.

L’équipe du film, qui comptait également sur la présence de Benjamin Lavernhe, Camille Lellouche et Amaury de Crayencour, a été chaleureusement applaudie par Nathalie Baye et Laura Smet. Mère et fille complices ont travaillé ensemble dans Dix pour cent, – série dans laquelle joue également François Civil –, Les Gardiennes, ainsi que le court métrage de Laura, intitulé Thomas.

Fils du producteur Xavier Gélin, petit-fils des acteurs Daniel Gélin et Danièle Delorme et arrière-petit-fils d’André Girard (peintre, résistant), Hugo Gélin a un passif familial ancré dans le cinéma. Lors de cette projection, c’est avec sa soeur Sarah Gélin qu’il a pris la pose mais pas seulement. Il a également partagé cette première avec son épouse, Nina Rives, directrice artistique du film. Non loin de lui se trouvaient deux des comédiens qui ont joué dans son premier long métrage, Comme des frères, Nicolas Duvauchelle et François-Xavier Demaison, ravis de se retrouver.

Audrey Lamy et Manu Payet qui ont joué ensemble dans Tout pour être heureux, Thibault de Montalembert – qui joue le père de François Civil dans Dix pour cent –, Frédéric Chau de Qu’est-ce qu’on a fait au bon dieu ?, Myriam Boyer et la bien-aimée de son fils Clovis Cornillac, Lilou Fogli, n’ont pas manqué l’invitation. Tout comme les comédiennes Aure Atika, Marie-Ange Casta et Laurence Arné, ainsi que la chanteuse Élodie Frégé. On peut également citer la présence de Michel Jonasz, César Chouraqui, Jean-Pierre Castaldi, Évelyne Gelin, Jean-Loup Dabadie, Louka Mellava, Michaël Gregorio, Sophie Mousel et Manon Niego et sa mère Elisa Servier.

Wrestle Kingdom 14 Press Conference Set For Tuesday

New Japan Pro-Wrestling announced that they will be holding a press conference concerning January’s Wrestle Kingdom 14. Wrestle Kingdom 14 will take place on January 4th & 5th.

At Monday’s King of Pro-Wrestling, G1 Climax Winner Kota Ibushi officially offered a challenge to Kazuchika Okada for the IWGP Heavyweight Championship, stating that he wants to not only with the IWGP Heavyweight Championship but also the IWGP Intercontinental Heavyweight Championship.

The Wrestle Kingdom 14 press conference will air live on NJPWWorld.com at 2am ET.

Impact Wrestling Signs Ace Romero

Impact Wrestling has signed super heavyweight star Ace Romero.

The deal was made official this Saturday night at All Glory, a collaboration between Impact and several Midwest independent promotions, that saw Romero defeat Larry D in the show’s main event. Following the bout Scott D’Amore came to the ring and offered the big man a three-year contract.

Romero has been wrestling since 2013, hails from Orlando and was trained (at least in part) by NXT Superstar Oney Lorcan. He has been a mainstay for AAW in Chicago for the last two years, including a lengthy program with Maxwell Jacob Friedman that culminated in a Street Fight, as well as a bloody Dog Collar Match.

He has also worked several dates for MLW, battling Simon Gotch several times, and was just this year a surprise entrant in the 21-man Casino Battle Royale at AEW Double or Nothing. He was at one point on AEW’s radar, but obviously nothing materialized on that front.

Video Footage Surfaces Of Jimmy Uso’s DUI Arrest From July

TMZ has now released footage from the July incident that saw Jimmy Uso arrested for a DUI with the police officer administering a field sobriety test.

The footage shows the arrest and the scene that unfolded where the Uso’s car was clocked at 86m MPH in a 45 zone as he swerves in and out of the late.

While Jimmy did eventually agree to the test, he did question why he was being detained, as you can see below.

WWE Hires New Performance Center Coach

WWE has hired long-time wrestling trainer Christopher Guy, better known as Ace Steel, as a new coach for the Performance Center.

PWInsider.com reports that Guy impressed officials earlier this year when he was brought in as a guest trainer at the Performance Center, and also did work on the upcoming WWE/Netflix collaboration The Main Event. He is most famously known as the trainer of both CM Punk and Colt Cabana.

Cody Rhodes Posts A Statement Regarding His AEW Future

After failing to win the AEW Championship at AEW Full Gear and receiving a beatdown on AEW Dynamite, Cody Rhodes has commented on his future.

While many fans have speculated that Cody will find a workaround to get a future title shot, he has continued to reiterate the fact that he won’t be challenging for the title ever again.

In a post on his Instagram, Cody stated that while the end result isn’t something he can accept, it was his choice to make the stipulation, and he can’t change that.

“Lovely snap my Wife got of Pharaoh and I days removed from the biggest loss of my professional career,” Cody wrote in the caption of the photo. “Nothing positive will come from whining/pointing fingers. I’d like to thank everybody who attended Full Gear & Dynamite this last week, from Baltimore to Nashville…some of the loudest and loveliest fans ever. Both cities did it ‘AEW style’ by not just making it about a single event, but instead turning multiple days into a party and destination.

“I’d like to thank Tony Khan and my fellow EVPs. As well as Keith Mitchell, Tim Walbert, Rafael, Sandra, Janet, Stella, Chris H, Jeff J, QT Marshall, Jim Ross/Excalibur, Steve Yu & Dylan at Comeback Studios, and the long list of invaluable soldiers who were able to bring together such a first-rate production. Sheamus Discusses His Upcoming WWE Return: “I’ve Never Felt Better”

Ahead of his in-ring return to WWE, Sheamus spoke with WWE’s After The Bell podcast about coming back to wrestling after a prolonged absence. Below are some highlights with a H/T to Fightful.com for the transcriptions.

“I think everybody on the main roster is dealing with injuries. It’s definitely been a lot with me. Obviously, my neck was one of those rumors. Honestly, the last seven months I’ve been off, I’ve used it really well. I’ve been in the gym really hard, focusing a lot on my fitness, well-being, diet, nutrition, I got a chance to go around the globe. Time off is great. A little bit of time off can heal the body, God knows, from my perspective, (being a) WWE superstar, there is no harder job. There’s no one who works as hard as we do and no athlete who can do what we do. I have a YouTube channel, Celtic Warrior Workouts, where I do workouts with different WWE superstars. I was focusing on that quite a lot. I learned an awful lot from that channel and I started to apply a lot of those techniques that I wasn’t aware of before into my workouts. It definitely helped change the game for me. I’ve never felt better. I feel better now than I did ten years ago,” he said.

It is unknown when Sheamus will be returning to the ring, but he did appear in a vignette to tease his return, so it will be in the near future.
