Ken Kennedy Lashes Out At Media, Talks WWE Wellness, More

– The always outspoken Ken Kennedy has posted the following on his official web site, talking about the Benoit tragedy, the WWE Wellness program, and how the mainstream media has been talking about the industry. Here is his full statement:

Please GOD, I’m just BEGGING for someone who has actually wrestled in a WWE ring in the past decade besides Jericho, Bret Hart, John Cena, and Ted Dibiase to come forward on one of these shows and tell the world what’s really going on. For these goofs, like Lanny Poffo? Ultimate Warrior? and Marc Mero???!! to repeatedly act as “experts” and “wrestler advocates” on the current situation is like having a frustrated ex-jock who rode the pine bench throughout his high school sports career give advice to Brett Favre on how to improve his game! It’s ridiculous, insane, and it really makes me sick that these so called reporters like Bill O’Reilly, Nancy Grace, and Geraldo Rivera, call upon these silly bastards who are bitter and frustrated that their careers have ended to represent the WWE which of course makes all of us look like a bunch of babbling idiots who are all addicted to steroids, drugs, alcohol, etc. THINGS ARE MUCH DIFFERENT THAN THEY WERE FIVE OR TEN OR TWENTY YEARS AGO! Most of the “expert”, frustrated ex-wrestlers that they’ve had on the show came from an era where everyone wrestled every day and then went out and partied like rock stars until dawn, drinking copious amounts of alcohol, smoking cigarettes and marijuana, snorting cocaine, taking fistfuls of pills, and injecting massive amounts of steroids. They would take pills to go to sleep, snort coke or take speed to get up and do this day after day after day! This would not be even remotely tolerated in today’s environment. We have a strict drug policy in place. The WWE’s wellness program was designed and instituted by the same doctor who implemented the NFL and the NBA’s substance abuse programs. Contrary to what somebody recently said on one of these “tabloid” shows the WWE’s allowed levels are exactly the same as the NFL. (Someone, I can’t recall exactly who said it, said that the WWE allowed a 10:1 Testosterone to Epitestosterone level, which is false. We have a 4:1 level exactly like the NFL and the NBA.) In fact, I knew of someone who took an over the counter supplement from GNC which he didn’t know was on the banned list, which caused him to have an elevated testosterone level. This individual was suspended and fined because of it. We can’t even take Ephedrine which is another legal supplement that can be bought at any gas station in the country. Since I’ve been with the company, I’ve seen the few people that did have problems with drugs either sent to rehab to try and help them overcome their addictions, (sent to one of the top rehab facilities in the country and paid for in full by the WWE) or be fired for repeat offenses. Look at the list of wrestlers who have prematurely passed away over the years, and most of them made the decision to live their lives this way. That’s right, I said “made the decision” because we have this cool thing in the United States of America called “freedom of choice”. I have the choice to quit my job if I don’t like it, or if I feel that I’m on the road too much. I have the right to choose whether or not I want to break the law and use drugs. I have the right to choose between eating healthy food and exercising regularly and eating fast-food three times a day, not going to the gym, and becoming obese like a good majority of the citizens in this country. When will individuals be held accountable for their own actions? Will it ever happen, or will we always try and point the finger at someone else? Unfortunately as much as I respect the man, Superstar Billy Graham is ultimately responsible for the health problems he suffers from right now because of the choices he made in his career. I find it both sad and humorous that the man who many say is largely responsible for starting the whole “steroid craze” in pro-wrestling is now pointing the finger at the industry rather than blaming himself. I, like everyone else in the company, have the luxury of being able to go home almost every week, play with my dog, hang out with my girlfriend, sleep in my own bed, and eat good home cooked food. This wasn’t the case with these frustrated ex-wrestlers who are trying to grasp on to FIVE more minutes of fame and recognition. I hear some of these guys talking about how the WWE doesn’t have any type of benefits. I heard Johnny Grunge’s widow on Nancy Grace saying that wrestling leaves you with nothing, and that two weeks after her husband was released from WCW that they lost their cars and their home. It apparently wasn’t obvious to Nancy Grace, who is reportedly an extremely intelligent person, that they were obviously living outside of their means, and they weren’t doing something that my parents taught me to do when I was a little kid…SAVE MONEY. This job pays well, but I know that it won’t last forever. It’s the same problem with pro athletes and actors in Hollywood who spend, spend, spend, like the money grows on trees and like it’s always going to be there, and then falls flat on their faces when their careers are suddenly cut short. Who’s fault? The team? The studio in Hollywood? I’m sorry, but I have no sympathy for people who don’t save money and spend everything that they earn so they can impress everyone around them with all the NEAT THINGS that they own. As far as the having no health insurance thing goes, I’ve been seriously injured twice since I’ve been in the WWE. Every red cent has been paid for in full by the company, which is the case for any employee who is injured during a work or work-related event. Yes, I have my own supplemental insurance which is a bit expensive, but if WWE paid for it, I’m sure that, just like every other company in the country that offers health insurance to their employees, I would just be paid less, so it’s a wash! In the end, we are all responsible for our own actions. Saying that Vince McMahon is responsible for the deaths of the Benoit’s is like saying that you and I are responsible for the deaths of Anna Nicole Smith and her son. The millions of people who tuned in every week to be entertained by “how funny” she was when she was all PILLED up and DRUNK, suddenly became the same people who acted SHOCKED and APPALLED when she died of a drug overdose. Somebody, PLEASE, stop the insanity!!!! KK

Source: PWInsider.com

— As Mike reported here late last night/early this morning, all plans have been called off for the “Jackass” angle at next month’s SummerSlam pay-per-view. You can still check out the full details to why the angle was nixed in Mike’s report, however, it should be noted here that it is official that the cast of “Jackass” will not be at SummerSlam.

— There is an interview now online at WWE.com with Carlito saying that he is coming after Bobby Lashley because Lashley did not accept his apology last night on RAW. From the looks of things, it appears that the two have officially started a feud, perhaps leading into SummerSlam.

— King Booker, is expected to re-sign a three-year deal with WWE imminently. He will be 45 years old when that contract ends. Booker had previously talked about retiring due to back problems.

— Lilian Garcia posted up a message on her official website, LilianGarcia.com, regarding her upcoming music album — which will finally be released this fall. Here is what she wrote:

Hi Everyone,

FINALLY!!!!!! I have been given word that my album is going to be released this Fall!! (Final date will be released soon) I can’t tell you how thrilled I am! For those of you who don’t know, my album is Pop Rock, mostly in Spanish and my first album release! If you don’t speak Spanish, I still invite you to get the album because I think you will still dig the music and will be amazed how cool it is to listen to another language. Also, I have been very blessed that I got to record a duet with the ever talented Jon Secada and we loved the song so much that we also recorded it in English. My producers were Tim Mitchell & George Noriega which between them have recorded & worked with Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Gloria Estefan & Jon Secada to name a few. They are extremely talented and kicked ass on this album! I wrote & co-wrote 11 out of the 12 songs so they are very much from my heart! I really hope you enjoy it and thanks again to all of you for your undying support!!

Forever Rockin’,
Lilian 🙂

Mega Heat On Kip James, Why Jerry Lynn Left TNA, Trademarc's Fallout With Cena

sources: PWInsider.com, Wrestling Observer Newsletter

— Jerry Lynn did an interview last Monday and said that he asked for his release from TNA because he wasn’t used at television tapings in about a month. If you don’t get booked to appear at TV, then you don’t get paid. He asked for his release and TNA complied. Lynn primarily worked as agent, usually to help layout X Division matches.

— Kip James has mega heat with TNA management after being taken off the Impact tapings two weeks ago. He complained loudly backstage about how the company was wasting money on Pacman Jones and not pushing any of its wrestlers.

— At the Hard Justice PPV, Karen Angle’s new “boyfriend” was played by John Cena’s cousin, the rapper Trademarc. He was telling people in TNA that the two had a falling out of sorts. Trademarc’s legitimately one of Kurt Angle’s friends. It is not known if he’s going to continue to be used in TNA.

Tuesday's ECW Rating, Tommy Dreamer's Column Back, Tony Chimel

partial source: PWInsider.com

— Tuesday’s ECW on Sci-Fi show did a 1.2 rating. This number is slightly up from last week’s record low 1.1 rating.

— Tommy Dreamer’s column is back on ECW.com. It is now called “An Original Thought” instead of “Diary of Violence.” His last column was in June. He stopped doing the old column because the wrestling industry was under a microscope, so he decided to become silent in protest. In his latest column, he talks about why he changed the name of it. He also goes off on the media. Dreamer also talks about why he’s wearing a bandana nowadays. You can read his column at this link.

— ECW.com has finally added a profile page on ring announcer Tony Chimel. You can see his page at this link.

H&M unveils full Simone Rocha collection

The full Simone Rocha x H&M collection for women, men and children has been unveiled ahead of the collaboration launch on March 11.

The collection is an amalgamation of a decade of design, featuring a cross-pollination of Rocha’s sensibilities and signatures, as well as paying tribute to Ireland, Hong Kong, texture, shape, tactility, history, family, intimacy and joy.

Commenting on the collection, Simone Rocha said in a statement: “I hope that the items in this collection will be worn and treasured for years to come. They were all informed by ideas and inspirations that have shaped me and my brand over the last 10 years, and I am so excited to see them worn out-and-about and interpreted and styled in new ways.”

The collection coincides with the 10th anniversary of the Simone Rocha label and offers “a full wardrobe, for the family,” explains H&M. This marks the first time that the Irish designer has offered menswear and childrenswear, alongside her signature womenswear.

For women, there are tulle dresses in pinks, tartan and classic black. There is a special fil coupe floral dress, with full puff sleeves, and day dresses in organic cotton with Broderie Anglaise detailing. For outerwear, there are classic trenches, and, as is a signature in a Rocha collection, a special pink coat, which has been designed in a sparkling tweed.

Other pieces in the womenswear collection include apron tops and dresses in tulle, designed to layer over other items such as slim dresses, check trousers and short cloque dresses. There are also cosy bubble knits and wool cardigans with pearl decorations around the neck.

While classic Rocha elements such as special tinsels, sparkling embellishments, floral motifs, frills and spherical cut-outs and full skirts blooming from neat waists range throughout, there are casual pieces, with hoodies and joggers, and jersey T-shirts embellished with pearls. The majority of the women’s collection will be available in sizes EU 34 to 44/46.

Simone Rocha and H&M share further details of their collaboration ahead of the March launch

For Rocha’s menswear debut, there are riffs on her classics, including a reworked trench, with pearl embellishments on the collar, a rounded summer parka, Aran knits and cardigans, classic wool suiting and a vibrant checked blazer with matching drawstring trousers.

There is also shirting, hoodies and T-shirts in a colour pallet of white, pink and black, as well as some printed with photographs by Jacob Lillis, a long-term collaborator of Rocha’s. The majority of the men’s collection will be available in sizes EU 46 to 52/54.

Rocha, who has long played with scale and silhouette, is also introducing her first-ever childrenswear collection including miniaturised versions of some of her classics, including smocks and frill dresses.

For mini-me looks there are also Aran knit jumpers, cardigans with pearl shaped-buttons, soft joggers and sweatshirts, and a button-through puffer, in pink floral, crafted from recycled polyester. The tartan that runs through the collection reappears on tiny dungarees. The childrenswear collection will be available in sizes 98/104,110/116 and 122/128.

Alongside the three main categories, Rocha has also added accessories to her collection featuring footwear staples, jewellery and bags. There are brogues with pearl-shaped embellishments, alongside feather decorated ballerinas and slides, and sparking choices for adorning hair and ears from beaded-bow earrings and matching tiaras to earrings decorated with real glass bead flowers and hair slides, and sets of oversized bow hairclips. There will also be neoprene totes with bow details on the straps and various coordinating socks to match the collection.

Ann-Sofie Johansson, Ann-Sofie Johansson, H&M, added: “Simone has such a unique and special aesthetic. Season on season, she defines her identity. This feels like the perfect collection for this moment; a dynamic proposition from a female designer with such a clear sense of who she is, and what she wants to say. It is a joyful collection, that will hopefully enliven spirits and inspire.”

The launches March 11 and will be available at hm.com and in selected stores. Prices range from 9.99 pounds for socks to 199.99 pounds for brogues.

UFC's Dana White Talks About Negotiating With Angle & Lesnar

Source: CBS News

UFC President Dana White was interviwed today by Sam Caplan of CBS Sports. During the interview, White had the following things to say about his negotiations with Brock Lesnar and Kurt Angle:

On whether Brock Lesnar will fight top guys as soon as he enters UFC:

“There’s nothing but (top competition) in the UFC. You don’t walk into the UFC and fight easy guys — it doesn’t happen.”

“He’s only had one MMA fight, but the guy has been wrestling his whole life. I’ve talked to people who I respect in the business who have trained with him and have trained him and say this guy is really talented. I see a lot of potential for him.”

On his negotiations with Kurt Angle to fight for UFC:

“You know, I’ve talked to Kurt Angle a couple of times, but the thing with Kurt Angle was I never really thought Kurt Angle was taking it serious. Brock Lesnar is taking this s— serious. “

Comparing Kurt Angle to Brock Lesnar

“[Angle] wasn’t willing to train and go to one of these camps and train with them and start to learn. He wanted to come right into the UFC. Brock Lesnar has been training with an awesome camp; he’s already had a fight in a smaller organization. He’s taking it serious.

If you look at Brock Lesnar, he’s young. Take away all of his wrestling credentials, which are enough to get you in anyway, and look at the size of him. It’s more serious to me that Brock Lesnar would fight in the UFC.”
