Update On Lana's "Nuclear Heat" With WWE Management, Paige/Bullying Claims

In regards to the “nuclear heat” that we reported Lana has backstage in WWE right now, it was noted to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that the reports that WWE isn’t happy with her right now is a “major understatement.”

Despite the fact that WWE’s official website was told — and attempted to — turn the Lana situation into a storyline, when she began publicly tearing into Paige on social media for “bullying her” during her time in NXT, it was at that point that Lana went from having heat to “nuclear heat.”

In regards to the claim that she was bullied by Paige in NXT, it was noted to the Observer that it’s a “preposterous charge,” and that Paige and Charlotte were the two who were messed with the most when they first arrived to WWE’s developmental system.

Another WWE talent ended up writing something negative about Lana after seeing what was said about Paige, but was immediately called by the WWE office and was told to take it down.

Lana is currently in the gym training for her eventual WWE return.

Ferrari’s Mekies says Camilleri retirement a total ‘surprise’

Ferrari sporting director Laurent Mekies says the Italian outfit was “surprised” by the news of CEO Louis Camilleri’s sudden retirement but insists chairman John Elkann’s interim role as chief executive will ensure the team’s “stability and continuity”.

Camilleri unexpectedly announced on Thursday his departure from the helm of Ferrari for “personal reasons”.

However, it appears the 65-year-old has been battling the coronavirus, and while he is now out of harm’s way, the difficult period has encouraged him to take a step back from his corporate responsibilities.

Camilleri, a long-standing Philip Morris executive, had taken over the reins of Ferrari in July 2018 following the untimely passing of Sergio Marchionne.

“It was a surprise for all of us when we received the note from our chairman,” admitted Mekies, who is overseeing the Scuderia’s operations this weekend with team boss Mattia Binotto remaining in Maranello.

Ferrari sporting director Laurent Mekies

“None of us were aware, but it’s the way it goes for this kind of situation. I’ve seen what our chairman communicated in terms of the reasoning, it’s understandable.

“Louis has been very hit badly with COVID and even though it was not life-threatening, it’s been very tough and I’m sure it’s not the only reason but certainly it’s something that I guess at the stage where he is and [with his] achievements it is probably something that makes you think your priorities differently.”

While the Egyptian-born American’s presence on the F1 scene has perhaps been less prominent than that of Marchionne, Camilleri has nevertheless been a strong supporter in the wings of Ferrari’s involvement in the sport.

Fiat-Chrysler and Ferrari chairman John Elkann will take over Camilleri’s chief executive responsibilities on an interim basis.

“It’s a shame because the level of support we got from Louis, from our chairman, through to Mattia, has been incredible in these two years,” Mekies explained.

“Especially this year, in crisis time and you always say it’s in crisis times that you find out how this thing goes. So the level of support we got was incredible, he was certainly one of the strong drivers of this.

“The good news for us is that our chairman is stepping in for the interim role and therefore it could not be better to give us stability and the right continuity in terms of support.

“We will try to finish the year on a good note and all regroup at the factory with Mattia and the management team.”

League Of Nations, The Wyatt Family, ECW Originals & Team Reigns Kick Off RAW

A video package focussed on the League of Nations… Michael Cole introduced the show and was joined on commentary by JBL and Byron Saxton. The stage was set up with tables, ladders, and chairs for the go-home show. The broadcast team hyped the TLC main event.

In the ring, Sheamus, Rusev, Alberto Del Rio, and King Barrett stood as music played. Sheamus spoke about how happy he is. The fans told him he looks stupid. He asked how he can be stupid when he’s the WWE World Heavyweight Champion.

Sheamus boasted over ending Reigns’ title run in five minutes and 15 seconds. Sheamus spoke about how they represent the greatest countries in the world. He ran through the countries and the fans chanted USA before he could get to his own. Sheamus said they couldn’t find anyone in America that was good enough to lace their boots. He said it’s 2015 and America doesn’t cut it anymore. Sheamus boasted that they are the best of the best of the best.

The lights went out and when they came back on The Wyatt Family were standing in the ring. There was a light “yes” chant. Bray Wyatt said they haven’t been properly introduced. He said his name and said the men with him are his brothers. He said he doesn’t care about nations because this is his world and he allows them to breathe in it. Wyatt said they weren’t there to talk, they were there for the chaos.

Rather than let the heels destroy one another, The Dudleys and Tommy Dreamer decided this would be a great time to make their entrance. Ugh. Bubba Ray Dudley said they see Bray’s chaos and raise him to the EXTREME!!! There was a mild pop. Wyatt cut him off and said they were outmanned and should not get in his way.

D-Von Dudley said Wyatt is wrong. He said that when you’re extreme, you don’t die (ain’t that the truth), you multiply. “Oh my goodness, it’s Rhyno!” Cole exclaimed. Yes, really. The ECW foursome headed toward the ring. They stopped in their tracks when they heard Roman Reigns’ music. Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and The Uso Brothers made their entrance through the crowd. Cole said hell was about to break loose… [C]

Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Rusev, and King Barrett vs. Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and Braun Strowman vs. The Dudley Boyz, Tommy Dreamer, and Rhyno vs. Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose, and The Usos

There was an obligatory tower of doom spot with Strowman underneath, and with Dreamer taking a leg to the head. Dreamer came back and eliminated the Wyatt Family by pinning Rowan in 5:00.

After the break, they had a Reigns and Rhyno moment and Cole spoke about how they both use the spear. The Dudleys got the better of League of Nations with Rusev taking 3D. They set up Sheamus for the Whassup spot, but Del Rio broke it up. Sheamus caught Bubba with the Brogue Kick and eliminated Team ECW in 11:30.

The match came down to League of Nations vs. Team Reigns. Cole noted that it’s Ambrose’s birthday. Ambrose got the better of Rusev and performed his top rope elbow for a two count heading into the break.

League of Nations isolated one of the Uso Brothers coming out of the break. Uso made the hot tag to Reigns, who worked over Del Rio to a mix of cheers and boos. Reigns dominated the heels and Ambrose performed a suicide dive onto Rusev on the floor. One of the Uso Brothers dove over the top and onto Barrett. Sheamus held onto Reigns’ leg on the ring apron and Del Rio caught him with a kick to take offensive control.

Del Rio applied the Cross Arm Breaker, but one of the Uso Brothers performed a top rope splash to break it up. Sheamus tagged in and mocked Reigns’ pre-spear. Sheamus went for his finisher, but Reigns speared and pinned him. Cole put it over big that Reigns “just pinned the champion.”

Winners: Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose & The Usos

Backstage Segments

The broadcast team hyped that there won’t be pinfalls in the main event on Sunday because of the rules of the TLC match… Ric Flair and Charlotte were shown talking backstage… [C] A commercial featuring Triple H and Stephanie McMahon taking pitches from the wrestlers about Smackdown moving to USA Network aired… Cole recapped the previous segment.

Renee Young Interviews Sheamus

[Q4] Backstage, Renee Young asked Sheamus if the outcome of that match is a sign of things to come. Sheamus said a great man once said there is no chance in hell. He said he’s not going to beat Reigns, he’s going to smash his face, rip his hair out, smash his face, and grind him down, and he may just do it in five minutes and 15 seconds. Young asked if there’s a lesson to be learned from tonight. Sheamus said he’s going to teach Reigns the lesson in the ring later tonight in front of the entire world.

Backstage: Stardust & Titus O’Neil

On the Stardust set, Stardust wore old school 3D glasses and included some Star Wars talk and worked Jack Swagger into it. Titus O’Neil was once again on the set. Titus told Stardust “you need to get you some.” He clarified by saying Stardust needs to get a good book and a strong bottle of wine so he won’t be talking about dark forces. Stardust said he won’t rest until the WWE Universe is eclipsed in an ocean of darkness. Titus told him to have it his way and said he would see him out there.

King Barrett Dealing With Nerve Injury In His Neck

King Barrett was conspicuously absent from Sunday’s TLC PPV and Monday’s RAW, leaving a lot of fans wondering if WWE had lost yet another wrestler due to injury.

Ryan Satin over at Pro Wrestling Sheet has confirmed Barrett is dealing with a nerve injury in his neck.

No word yet during which match Barrett was hurt, but he suffered a bad stinger earlier this month and has been resting up over the past few weeks.

Thankfully, the injury isn’t serious and he’s not expected to miss too much ring time.

Cena spoke to the New York Times about starting his acting career off by doing WWE Studios action movies, such as The Marine and 12 Rounds.

Additionally, Cena commented on the status of his WWE future following his recent hiatus to film the FOX reality show American Grit, which he will be the host of. According to Cena, he and Vince McMahon have a mutual understanding as it pertains to Cena’s acting career.

“I have a very good mutual understanding with my boss that I don’t ever want to leave; I really like it in the ring. I try to pick opportunities that don’t take me away from WWE for too long. I try to do opportunities that can really help expand our audience and bring new eyes to our product.”

Trish Stratus On Popularity Of NXT Divas, Triple H's Vision For NXT Brand & More

WWE Hall Of Famer Trish Stratus recently spoke with the Journey Of A Frontman website about the rise in popularity of female wrestlers due to the success of NXT. Below are some of the highlights from the interview.

On women making a name for themselves in NXT:

“I think it’s amazing. It’s about time. The girls are ready and the fans are ready. I’m really excited to see what’s gonna happen. I think they’re doing a fantastic job. I want to see who is going to break out from the girls now since they came in as a cluster. It’s an exciting time to see these strong characters, these strong athletes, and to be able to sit back and watch who is going to break out and be that star. They’re all stars. They are all great in the ring – and what I love is they all have pretty defined characters from what we’ve seen so far. I’m proud of them. It’s a good time for women in our business right now.”

On advice for the up-and-coming Divas:

“They have to challenge themselves and step out of the box every time they go out there. They have to stand out and give the fans something that intrigues them and will make them want to see more of them. I think people get used to their go-to moves and like staying in their comfort zone. But, even if its working, you still gotta mix it up. At the end of the day, it’s about going out there and making it the best damn two minutes you’ve ever made for yourself. Also spotting the opportunity to do that is important. I think right now is the time we are waiting for that big star from the women to break out.”

On the NXT vision coming from Triple H:

“Well the thing about Triple H is he’s very smart and is a visionary really. As the person in charge of talent, his job is to recognize their abilities, spot their potential, then provide them with the opportunity that could elevate them that way they can make the most of them in the company. The cool thing is that he looked at the Divas division and he didn’t just see them as women, he saw these amazing athletes and characters that could do well on the show and connect with the fans. That’s what he did, he gave them the opportunity. Once the fans connect with them, they’re golden. It’s cool to see Triple H in this role, it’s no coincidence this vision is coming from a multi-time champion who knows a thing or two about what works in the ring.”

AJ Styles' Manager Issues Statement Regarding Recent Claims Made By TNA

Following the story published by the official TNA website on Friday regarding their recent negotiations with AJ Styles, where they claim Styles signed with them but backed out of the deal at the last minute, Styles’ representative has issued a statement to clarify their side of the story.

Bill Behrens, who manages AJ Styles, issued the following statement to PWInsider.com on Saturday regarding TNA’s recent claims:

No contract was ever finalized nor signed by the parties.

That I would need to be involved in the contract process was known by TNA prior to my involvement and understood by them.

TNA and its 1st lawyer did not present in a timely fashion a contract that accurately reflected previous discussions at all. That created great concern tied to past experiences. In that time and prior there was other interest and there were other firm offers on the table and other discussions.

TNA was aware of other interest and various conflicts. TNA was aware a final contract was required. It was creating that contract and controlled that timetable. Too much time passed early on. Other things came into play. No contract was ever finalized with TNA.

To suggest I make any decision for my clients is to misunderstand my role and diminish the role each talent has in making their own decisions, and insults the talent in the process.
