Regional powers call emergency summit as new evidence emerges Congo election was rigged

Southern African government have called an emergency summit to discuss the disputed election in the Democratic Republic of Congo as further evidence emerged that the official results were falsified to hand a fraudulent victory to Felix Tshisekedi over Martin Fayulu.

The Southern African Development Community (SADC), which include the DRC, will meet on Thursday in Addis Ababa  a diplomatic adviser to outgoing president Joseph Kabila said on Sunday, Reuters reported.

It was not immediately clear who else from Congo would be present or what action, if any, the bloc might decide to take.

Analysis of two sets of voting data by the Financial Times show that Mr Fayulu was the rightful winner of the election to replace outgoing president Joseph Kabila, the newspaper reported on Tuesday.

Data covering 86 per cent of total votes cast across the country showed Mr Fayulu won 59.4 per cent of the vote while Mr Tshisekedi, who was declared the surprise winner on Thursday, took 19 percent, the paper reported.

The findings tally with data gathered by 40,000 observers working for the Catholic Church, which gave Mr Fayulu a 62.8 percent victory among a sample accounting for 43 percent of votes cast.

They will reinforce a claim of electoral fraud that Mr Fayulu’s campaign filed on Saturday.

Congo’s electoral commission initially announced that Mr Tshisekedi, a marginal opposition leader had won with 38.57 percent of more than 18 million ballots cast.

The announcement contradicted consistent polling that suggested Mr Tshisekedi would win the election.

Mr Fayulu immediately denounced the result, calling it “rigged, fabricated and invented." Amid claims that Mr Kabila and Mr Tshisekedi had reached a secret deal to share power, he claimed that he had been denied power by an "electoral coup."

On Friday his campaign released its own analysis saying he had taken 61.51 percent of the vote. His supporters say authorities rigged the result in a deal to protect members of Mr Kabila’s outgoing administration and maintain his influence over security forces.

The December 30 election had been intended as Congo’s first democratic transfer of power in six decades, but instead threatens to reawaken violence in the huge and tumultuous nation where millions have died during civil wars since the 1990s.

US lawmakers reach tentative deal to avoid government shutdown

US congressional negotiators said late on Monday they had reached a tentative deal on border security funding that would avert another partial government shutdown due to start on Saturday, but provided no details.

"We reached an agreement in principle" on funding border security programs through Sept. 30, Republican Senator Richard Shelby told reporters.

"Our staffs are going to be working feverishly to put all the particulars together,” Shelby said. He did not say whether President Donald Trump would get any money for a US-Mexico border wall.

Asked if Trump had signed off on the pact, Shelby said the negotiators talked periodically with "White House representatives." Although not saying Trump had endorsed the outline, he added he thought and hoped the president could support the deal.

Trump’s December demand for $5.7 billion to help construct the border wall triggered a 35-day partial government shutdown that ended last month without him getting wall funding.

Trump agreed to reopen the government for three weeks to allow congressional negotiators time to find a compromise on government funding for the rest of the fiscal year, which ends on Sept. 30, to avert another shutdown.

Democratic Representative Nita Lowey said on Monday night: "I hope by Wednesday we’ll have a finished product." Lowey said she had been in touch with House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who she said "has confidence I have made the right decision."

The stalled talks restarted in the US Capitol just hours before a scheduled rally in the Texas border city of El Paso, where Trump will promote his promised wall along the US-Mexico border, a proposal opposed by Democrats.

The former congressman, who is considering seeking his party’s 2020 presidential nomination, gained national prominence by nearly unseating Republican US Senator Ted Cruz in last November’s elections.

In Washington, the small group of lawmakers leading the negotiations met for about two hours.

They said they wanted to seal a plan by Monday night to allow time for the legislation to pass the House and Senate and get Trump’s signature by Friday, when funding is due to expire for the Department of Homeland Security, the Justice Department and several other federal agencies.

MySizeID: Reducing the environmental & economic costs of online returns

Click Here: geelong cats guernsey 2019

Thanks to the rise of e-commerce, it’s now easier than ever before to buy new clothes.
To further entice consumers to shop online, many fashion retailers offer free shipping on
purchases over a specific price and hassle-free returns. Online sales are increasing
around the world – but so are return rates. While most consumers only see the benefits
of free delivery, the truth remains that high-volume returns have an economical,
environmental and social impact.

Did you know that on average, 40 percent of online purchases are returned compared
to 10 percent of in-store purchases? What’s more, 70 percent of these returns are due
to the garment not fitting correctly or as expected. It’s estimated that 25 percent of all
retailer’s returns are sent to landfills every year, equal to more than 5 billion pounds
worth of goods. Even returns which are not immediately discarded eventually end up in
landfills after passing through a network of resellers. In addition, transportation linked to
return shipping causes increased CO2 emissions. Approximately 15M metric tons of
CO2 emissions are emitted by vehicles transporting online returns each year,
generating more waste and causing harm to the environment.

In a bid to vastly reduce online returns, MySize has developed an innovative solution
which accurately matches consumer’s personal measurements with brands size charts.
Developed by fashion experts, pattern makers, retailers, data scientists and
experienced algorithm experts, MySizeID is a fashion measurement tool. Divided into
three main elements, MySizeID aggregates and analyses data from several sources
and uses personal size measurements to create an accurate and secure sizing profile
for consumers. Through the app, consumers can use their smartphone’s motion sensors
to take their measurements and build a full body profile. These measurements are then
combined with data from different anthropometric databases to create a detailed sizing
profile. Retailers can use the dashboard, MyDash to seamlessly input size charts for all
their garments and connect it to their PLM or inventory system. Using the MySizeID
widget, consumers can view accurate size recommendations from any online retailer,
thereby reducing the possibilities of ordering the wrong size.

“Accurately and successfully matching a brand’s apparel items to a shopper’s
personalized measurements using MySizeID can significantly reduce returns and
advance the goals of sustainability,” says Billy Pardo, COO of MySize. “By simply
reducing online returns, carbon dioxide emissions from “Free Returns” will similarly be reduced…During a two-month pilot with Boyish Jeans, a sustainable women’s denim
line, MySizeID was deployed and made size recommendations to the brand’s
customers, resulting in a 31 percent reduction in returns.”

By implementing MySizeID, retailers can reduce returns by more than 30 percent,
leading to an annual global reduction of 1.8M metric tons of CO2 emissions. Using
MySizeID can help retailers generate less waste and emissions, increase consumer
satisfaction and fewer online returns, making the fashion industry a little more
sustainable.

Renault lodges formal protest over Racing Point chassis

The Renault F1 team has filed a formal protest over the design of Racing Point’s RP20 chassis, claiming that it follows the design of last year’s title winning Mercedes W10 too closely.

The car caused a stir when it was unveiled at the start of pre-season testing in March at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya, and was quickly dubbed the ‘Pink Mercedes’ because of Racing Point’s distinctive livery colour.

But with both Racing Point drivers finishing in the top ten in today’s Styrian Grand Prix – and ahead of Renault’s Daniel Ricciardo – the French manufacturer has decided to escalate the situation by lodging an official protest.

  • Hamilton cruises to Styrian GP win after Ferrari disaster

Renault’s protest cites an “alleged breach of Art. 2.1, 3.2, Appendix 6 Paragraph 1, 2(a) and 2(c) of the FIA Formula One Sporting Regulations 2020 during the race”.

Article 2.1 says all F1 participants must comply with the International Sporting Code, the F1 technical regulations and the sporting regulations.

Article 3.2 states that “competitors must ensure that their cars comply with the conditions of eligibility and safety”.

And Appendix 6 adds: “A competitor shall, in respect of the Listed Parts to be used in its cars in Formula One, only use Listed Parts which are designed by it.”

It continues, “The obligation to design and use Listed Parts shall not prevent a competitor from outsourcing the design and/or manufacture of any Listed Parts to a third party (including an associate of such competitor)” as long as it fulfils specific requirements.”

Those requirement include the stipulation that “in the case of the outsourcing of design, such third party shall not be a competitor or a party that directly or indirectly designs Listed Parts for any competitor.”

It means that Renault are alleging that the RP20 features elements in its design that have not been designed themselves.

Racing Point uses customer power units from Mercedes, and has previously stated that they had looked to last year’s Mercedes design for ways of making the integration of engine and chassis more aerodynamically efficient.

The success of Racing Point’s change in design philosophy was evident in Sunday’s race, which saw Sergio Perez recover from 17th place on the grid to finish in sixth place.

And Ricciardo was passed by Lance Stroll on the closing lap in a ‘forceful move’ that Ricciardo felt deserved a penalty, The stewards reviewed the incident and decided against taking any further action.

But now Renault have brought out the big funs with their protest over the RP20, with Racing Point’s technical representatives summoned to appear before the stewards at 7.20pm local time.

“We confirm that Renault DP World F1 Team has submitted a request to the Stewards of the Event for clarification on the legality of the Racing Point RP20,” Renault said in a brief statement on social media ahead of the hearing.

“We have no further comment on this matter until the Stewards have arrived at a decision.”

Earlier in the day, Renault CEO Cyril Abiteboul spoke about his objections of the Racing Point entry.

“It’s the first time since I joined F1 that someone has been really proud of copying,” he complained. “It’s like someone who forges artworks being super happy with the work he’s done.

“Yet it’s not worth the original piece, or the pride of working on an original piece,” he added.

The two teams have a history of disputes, with Racing Point protesting Renault’s braking system in Japan last year, leading to the exclusion of the French manufacturer from the results of that event..

Bryan Reveals Rumble Entrance Plans, Punk Jokes About AEW, Rey

Daniel Bryan, Mojo Rawley, Bobby Roode & Baron Corbin spoke to ABC 15 in Arizona about the upcoming Royal Rumble PPV, which you can check out here. The event will take place at Chase Field, which is the stadium where tTe Arizona Diamondbacks MLB Team plays. Bryan noted that the event had never taken place at a baseball stadium before and the plan right now is for talent to make their entrances from the dugout, as seen below:
“It’s an incredible stadium, and we were actually just talking about what the metamorphosis would look like,” Bryan said. “Right now the thought is that we come out of the dugout. We’ve never had a Royal Rumble at a baseball stadium before. I’m super psyched, I’ve never come out of a dugout to go to a wrestling show before, so I think it should be exciting.”
Despite Former WWE Superstar CM Punk showing no real interest towards a wrestling return, his name is often brought up as a potential acquisition for All Elite Wrestling. Punk hasn’t made any public comments regarding the new promotion, although he did post this reply when comedian Mike Lawrence compared the new group to Image Comics, a comic book publisher founded in 1992 which is now the third largest comic book publisher in North America. You can check out the exchange below, including Punk’s response to a fan asking why he even cares:

All Elite Wrestling reminds me of Image Comics. The established publishers were skeptical and within a few years they were copying everything and begging those free thinking creators to come back. This really is the best thing that could happen to wrestling.

Update on Kay Lee Ray & Viper, Kanellis Update, Swagger on AEW

The belief for a while now has been that there will be at least two new faces coming to NXT UK very soon. UK indie wrestles Kay Lee Ray and Viper are expected to join WWE as soon as their deals with World of Sport come to an end. In an update provided by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, both women are definitely coming to the company after all. The Observer also noted that Viper’s offer was much higher than Kay Lee Ray’s since she AEW offered her a huge contract as well. Kay Lee Ray has still been on WWE’s radar for quite some time, and she was also spotted in the crowd during the NXT UK Takeover: Blackpool event earlier this month. Expect to see both women on NXT UK regularly very soon.
Several WWE Superstars may be on their way out of the company. Dolph Ziggler and The Revival are among the names rumored to be exiting WWE soon, but 205 Live’s Mike and Maria Kanellis have also reportedly asked for their releases. In an update provided by PWInsider, it sounds like the husband and wife duo won’t be leaving WWE right away. The report notes that the Kanellis’ actually asked for their releases several weeks ago and were refused. Similar reports of The Revival having their requests rejected have been circulating lately as well. WWE likely won’t be releasing talents over fear of them joining rival promotions, so it’s possible that these stars may just have to wait out their contracts much like Neville did throughout 2018.
Jack Swagger made a name for himself in WWE and he was even the World Heavyweight Champion at one point. However, he has been trying to establish himself outside of the company recently. Swagger has been training for his upcoming MMA fight, and he’s also been working as Jake Strong for Lucha Underground. With All Elite Wrestling looking to sign some notable names to its roster, could Swagger be joining the new promotion? In an interview with the New York Post, Swagger said that he would be interested in working with AEW. Swagger praised The Elite for establishing themselves outside of WWE, and he also admitted that they’ve been invited to his Bellator 214 fight on January 26th. Time will tell if AEW signs Swagger to a deal within the next few weeks.

“I absolutely would love to work with Cody and the Bucks. I invited them
to the Bellator fight. So we will have to see if they show up.”
Swagger said.
