West Ham close to sacking Manuel Pellegrini – Ian ‘The Moose’ Abrahams urges Hammers to hire Chris Wilder or Eddie Howe

The Hammers are only one point above the Premier League relegation zone after Thursday’s 2-1 defeat at Crystal Palace, and the pressure is mounting on Pellegrini.

He was offered a stay of execution last month when the club decided against sacking him and hiring David Moyes, but Pellegrini has failed to turn things around and The Times report he has only two games to save his job.

Gary O'Neil says West Ham must sack Manuel Pellegrini

These matches, against Leicester on Saturday and away at Bournemouth on New Year’s Day, will not be easy, and defeats in both could mean the 66-year-old begins 2020 out of a job.

And the time has come for a change to be made, according to talkSPORT’s very own Ian ‘The Moose’ Abrahams – a die-hard Hammers supporter.

“When West Ham moved to the new stadium it was all about taking them to the next level,” he told Friday’s Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast. “The next level is meant to be one up, not one down!

“I think the time has come when you have to question if the players really are behind Manuel Pellegrini; they’re not really looking like they are.

“I just look at it and think it needs a new voice in there, it needs somebody who is going to shake it all up.

“Clearly Sebastien Haller is not a bad player – he showed that last year with Eintracht Frankfurt – yet he’s looked bang average at West Ham. It’s the same with Pablo Fornals; he’s looked a terrific player for Spain but hasn’t shown any of that at West Ham.
