Unai Emery SACKED: Arsenal legends Ray Parlour and Perry Groves react to Gunners announcement – ‘Something had to be done’

Emery was given the boot on Friday morning after the Gunners lost 2-1 at home to Eintracht Frankfurt in the Europa League to make it SEVEN games without a win.

Thursday night’s result saw Emery achieve something Arsene Wenger never did during his 22 years at the helm – this is Arsenal’s worst run of results since 1992 when George Graham was manager.

Former Gunners stars Parlour and Groves were in the talkSPORT studios on Friday when the news of Emery’s departure was announced.

And they both agreed it was coming.

“I’m not surprised, it was the last straw last night,” Parlour told Jim White.

“The boos at the end, the performance… it’s been coming. We go to most of the games and you could sense the crowd turning on the manager.

“Players don’t look like they know what their jobs are, they don’t know how to defend.”

Groves says the manager completely lost the dressing room, and their recent results gave the board no choice.
