This week’s edition of WWE Smackdown, which featured the fallout from this past Sunday night’s WWE Fastlane PPV, scored a big viewership number for the Blue Brand.
According to ShowBuzz Daily, this week’s WWE Smackdown averaged 2.771 million viewers, which is up from last week’s 2.590 million viewership number. Not only did this week’s Smackdown see a sizable viewership increase, but the show garnered the most viewers since April of last year.
This week’s show featured a main event segment of Shane McMahon announcing his plans to take a leave of absence as Team Blue’s Commissioner. Shane also announced that Kevin Owens and Sami Zayn would face each other in a singles match at WrestleMania 34, which lead to Zayn and Owens taking Shane out after a brutal beatdown.
WWE announced ahead of time that Shane McMahon would be making a big announcement on Smackdown, and the company also announced that Asuka would be returning to the show to confront her WrestleMania opponent, Charlotte Flair.
WWE Smackdown ranked #5 this week in overall cable TV viewership.
