A lot of us struggle with getting refunds after buying something and somehow wish for a solution once and for all. Unfortunately, all we can do is follow up until we give up after a couple of days, maybe even weeks.

However, the tenacity of a Kota-basedengineer is so strong, that he followed up for an entire year just to obtain a refund ofRs.35 from the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation or IRCTC. On cancellation of a train ticket from Kota to Delhi he received onlyRs.665 as refund for a ticket worthRs.765.Rs.100 were deducted instead ofRs.65 against cancellation of a waitlisted ticket. I filed an RTI with IRCTC in July last year and also lodged a complaint immediately. I was informed that the amount would be refunded, but that did not happen.
