Arsenic, an odourless and tasteless chemical is naturally present in the Earth’s crust. It is also a by-product of certain agricultural and industrial activities. When the fields are irrigated with arsenic, they get absorbed by the crops which in turn are consumed by human beings.

It can even enter drinking water as it runs into water sources. Over the years, this term has become quite popular especially in South-Asian countries pertaining to the drinking-water sector.Arsenic contamination in groundwater especially in floodplains of Ganga in West Bengal, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Brahmaputra plains in Assam and Manipur have become quite prominent.
