The Belgian marksman was sold to Inter for £74million, with Solskjaer happy not to buy a replacement for him in the summer.
Lukaku told Solskjaer that he was keen to leave the club in April and said being put on the right side of United’s attack in a victory over West Ham convinced him it was time to move on.
But the former Chelsea striker says he has has no ill-feeling towards Solskjaer or United’s hierarchy.
“It was after the game against West Ham at home, Solskjaer decided to put me on the right wing, very wide,” Lukaku told Corriere dello Sport.
