As reported by RMC, Prince Albert II of Monaco has taken the unusual step of questioning the surprise sacking of Niko Kovač at AS Monaco mid-season. Philippe Clement has since been introduced but is yet to improve results. Prince Albert said:
“Normally, we would take stock at the end of the season and not in the middle. I was able to meet Philippe Clement, he’s a charming person who has produced very good results for the teams he’s coached [but] I would’ve maybe left Niko in charge until the end of the season. I hope I’m wrong, but I think the decision was a bit too hasty… [I was given] several arguments that it was time to change because we weren’t on target for the objectives that we had set out at the start of the season.”
