Christmas Day talks have led to the Chinese FA announcing a cap of £2million-a-year, applying to wages after tax. This does not include bonuses.
Bale appeared set for a Super League switch in the summer, where he could have been on a mammoth £62.4m annual wage.
That amounted to £1.2m-a-week, however, Real Madrid pulled the plug on the deal at the last minute.

And after this latest announcement, Premier League clubs will be on red alert as England will be a much more likely destination for Bale.

Manchester United, Tottenham and Chelsea have all been linked with Bale in the past.
The Welshman has been given further chances in the Los Blancos team despite his well-known feud with manager Zinedine Zidane.
Their frosty relationship looked as though it would hit a new low when Bale celebrated Wales’ Euro 2020 qualification when holding a flag with teammates denoting ‘Wales. Golf. Madrid. In that order.’
But amazingly, Zidane backed Bale, stating: “He is a player who has given lots to the club and I will look only at the sport, not what they say outside because there is a lot said and I am not here for that.”
As well as the legislation on wages in the Chinese Super League, an additional foreign player is now allowed in squads.
The original limit of four has been increased to five although only four are allowed on the pitch at any one time.
