Manchester United fan says Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk is the greatest defender the game has ever seen
He has been a regular at Bayer Leverkusen during the past four seasons – and was named in the Bundesliga Team of the Year last term after scoring a remarkable 17 league goals.
The 20-year-old already has 126 first team appearances for Leverkusen since making his debut in 2016, and he’s also won seven full international caps for Germany.
And Mundo Deportivo reports that Liverpool are determined to land Havertz ahead of a host of other interested clubs.
To capture him, though, the Reds would have to spend in excess of £100million, which would smash the £75m club-record fee they spent on Virgil van Dijk.

Havertz could be considered as a replacement for Adam Lallana, who is out of contract at the end of the season, although the England international’s deal has an option for a further year.
Havertz has been at Leverkusen since the age of 11 but it’s understood numerous European clubs are monitoring him.
“I am honest, at some point the next step must come for me,” Havertz told Bild last year. “But I’m not going to worry about when exactly that will happen.
“What counts now is Bayer Leverkusen. We still have a lot to do. Leverkusen very quickly signalled that they wanted to keep me.
