Leicester City can take Premier League title hope from Liverpool’s performance against Watford, says Stuart Pearce

The Reds beat Nigel Pearson’s bottom of the table side 2-0 but gave away several chances.

Liverpool remain the runaway leaders with 16 wins from 17 games this season and just two points dropped.

Leicester are their closest challengers but still have plenty of ground to make up and are 10 points off the pace as they drew with Norwich on Saturday.

Pearce told talkSPORT: “I’m looking as a neutral at this game and I will say when Leicester come up against these (Liverpool) in the way Leicester play in their counter-attack fashion they will certainly, if Liverpool play in the same way, create chances.

“That game is coming up shortly. I still think it is a done deal the Premier League, I think it was a couple of weeks ago, but the performance wasn’t great but the result was fantastic for them.”

Mohamed Salah scored twice for Liverpool on their way to beating Watford at Anfield in Saturday’s early kick-off.

Pearce added: “There’s not a team that has ever played in the Premier League that has not had its peaks and troughs. Their results may have stayed consistent but they have had peaks and troughs in the form they have showed in games.
