Kofi Kingston vs. Kevin Owens official for WWE Money in the Bank

Kofi Kingston will officially be defending his WWE Championship against Kevin Owens at Money in the Bank.

After Owens turned heel last week, Kingston vs. Owens was announced for Money in the Bank during the opening segment of tonight’s SmackDown. Kingston did an in-ring interview to open the show and challenged Owens to the title match.

Owens had served as an honorary member of The New Day before superkicking Kingston last week. Owens then said he’s coming after the WWE title and laid out Xavier Woods with an apron powerbomb.

On tonight’s show, Owens accepted Kingston’s challenge and cut a promo where he said Kingston gave people a WrestleMania moment no one will ever forget — but no one believes Kingston is actually championship material. Owens said Kingston doesn’t believe it either and is in over his head. Woods tried to attack Owens but was laid out with a superkick.
