Kerala To Soon Launch Its Own Laptop Under ‘Coconics’ Brand

With an aim to transform the state into an electronics manufacturing hub, Kerala has launched its own laptop brand.

Coconics, which is a Public-private partnership (PPP) will soon begin manufacturing laptops in the state.

It is a joint venture between the Kerala government and US-based technology major UST global.

UST Global holding will have a 49 per cent share, while Keltron has 26 per cent and KSIDC will own 23 per cent stakes and Axeleron has 2 per cent shares in the venture that is set up at a cost of Rs 30 crore.

The laptops will be manufactured at the State-run Keltron campus in Neyyattinkara, Thiruvananthapuram.

According to Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, the project also includes the involvement of KSIDC and Axeleron and will have the guidance and technical assistance of the Intel Corporation.
