Jurgen Klopp praises Watford despite 2-0 Liverpool win, hails Alisson as ‘best goalkeeper in the world’ and gives Georginio Wijnaldum injury update

The Reds boss gave credit to the spirited Hornets who gave them a tough game at Anfield, which was won by the home side 2-0.

Klopp told talkSPORT: “I’m completely fine. It was a difficult game. We played against an opponent with a different manager. Our analysis was useless, if you want, we had to dig really deep from Derby, from the Belgium club, from Leicester, we tried to find everything out and in the end they were really well organised.

“There was one team who deserved to win today and that was us and we did that but of course they had chances and we have to be honest. In these moments, the wind helped a little bit and we missed balls I would say.

“Ali (Allison) was there. I saw him at around 85 minutes doing warming up exercises but then in the decisive moments he was there. Incredible. World class goalie. The best in the world at the moment. That has helped us today extremely.”

Watford had their chances in the match but did not make the most of their opportunities.

Klopp believes their opponents did not play like a team who were sitting bottom of the Premier League.

“It was not sleepy. We had good moments and scored a sensational goal. I liked the start and what what we did then was not exactly as it should be but you have to respect the other team and it is the Premier League. The team with nine points plays this type of football and has this quality. That shows how good the Premier League is.

“Today they did not play like a team with nine points they played like a team fighting for the league. I respect that a lot.”
