The Chelsea midfielder, in fact, feels as though he’s still searching for the first major trophy of his career, despite collecting a Premier League winners’ medal in 2017.
He made six appearances during Antonio Conte’s first season, which was just enough to qualify for a medal.
Now, though, he’s finally having a real impact – and if Chelsea lift the Europa League, he’ll be a major part of the reason.
The 23-year-old academy graduate helped send Chelsea through to the final with a well-taken goal during the 1-1 draw with Eintracht Frankfurt, which the Blues eventually won on penalties.
It was his tenth goal of the season, his fourth in Europe – and he admits Europa League glory would be the highlight of his career so far.
“I’ve won the Premier League, but it didn’t feel the same. I didn’t have a contribution to it,” he told talkSPORT.
