LAUDERHILL, FL — With the leader of the free world calling her out by name to the White House press corps amid a cacophony of calls for her to step down or be fired, Broward County Supervisor of Elections Brenda Snipes may have finally had enough of Florida’s election madness.
The former elementary school principal hinted Tuesday to reporters that she may step down or choose not to seek re-election following the non-stop finger pointing since last Tuesday’s election.

Snipes has been at the center of Florida’s election storm as her county in particular added thousands of votes to the unofficial tallies in the days following the Nov. 6 vote. A persistent gaggle of picketers has been camped outside Snipe’s offices not far from Fort Lauderdale since last week.
“It is time to move on,”Snipes told reporters Tuesday. She said she believes she has fulfilled her duties.
“I think I have served a purpose that I came here for which was to provide a credible election product for our voters,” she said.
When asked directly if that meant she wasn’t running for another four-year term in 2020, Snipes said no final decision has been made but she planned to consult with her family for advice.
“I haven’t finalized that,” she said. “I’ll just check with my family. They’ll tell me what I’m doing.”
Snipes has held the Broward elections post since 2003, when she was appointed by then-Gov. Jeb Bush. She has won re-election since, despite a number of missteps and controversies that have led Republicans to accuse her of fraud.
Former Gov. Bush is among those calling for Snipes to be removed from office after the recounts are concluded.
Authorities have not found any evidence of fraud.
