Real Madrid lodge bid of over €80m for Aurélien Tchouaméni

According to Santi Aouna, Real Madird have lodged a bid for AS Monaco midfielder Aurélien Tchouaméni (22) of over €80m.

However, Aouna reports that the bid is not enough to make the Principality side “yield” as they also concurrently discuss a deal with PSG. Luis Campos and Nasser Al-Khelaïfi held discussions with the player and his entourage last week and are very keen to bring the French international to the Parc des Princes.

Aouna says that we’re entering into the “money time” of the discussions. Real Madrid remain in a good position to complete a deal, although PSG are hot on their heels. The bidding for the player is expected to continue in the coming hours.

AS Monaco interested in Andrea Belotti

Soon-to-be out-of-contract striker Andrea Belotti (28) is a target for AS Monaco, according to Gianluca Di Marzio.

Belotti is yet to accept a contract extension at his current club Torino, and with only a matter of weeks left on his current deal, AS Monaco are interested in snapping up the Italian international on a free transfer.

Belotti scored 8 goals in 16 Serie A starts last season. It is not yet clear whether he is perceived as a potential replacement for Wissam Ben Yedder (31), who has been linked with a surprise move to Barcelona.

Chancel Mbemba a target for Marseille and Lyon

Ignazio Genuardi is reporting that soon-to-be free agent Chancel Mbemba (27) is a target for Ligue 1 rivals Lyon and Marseille, although his wage demands could prove to be a stumbling block in any potential move.

According to Genuardi, Porto gave the Congolese centre-back a chance to renew his current deal at the club, but he declined as he is “looking for a new challenge.”  Lyon and Marseille are both interested in the player, but he is seeking an annual salary of €3m.

Having lost William Saliba (21), who has returned back to parent club Arsenal after a fruitful year at the Orange Vélodrome, Marseille are looking to strengthen their defensive option. Lyon are planning their own rebuild, and have already re-signed former striker Alexandre Lacazette (31), whilst they have also “established contacts” with Corentin Tolisso’s (27) entourage about a return to the Groupama stadium.

Mbemba has made 87 league appearances for Porto since arriving from Newcastle in 2018. During that time, he has won the domestic division twice, including this year, where he notched up 31 appearances – his most in a league season in Portugal.

William Saliba: “I belong to Arsenal.”

Speaking on the subject of his future at Arsenal on TF1, William Saliba (21) confirmed that he would be returning to his parent club this pre-season, dashing Marseille’s hopes of retaining the young French defender.

The former Marseille loanee said, “I belong to Arsenal, and I still have two years there. I will be there for pre-season with Arsenal. I have played zero matches with Arsenal and I want to show them what I’m made of and have the chance to play for the supporters and for this big club.”

He continued, “That doesn’t depend solely on me. In any case, leaving (Arsenal) like that would be a shame.”

The interview with Telefoot brings to an end the speculation about his future. Last month, Marseille President Pablo Longoria had said that it was the desire of both the club and the player that Saliba stayed with Les Phocéens.

French and German clubs monitor Lorient’s Enzo Le Fée

As reported by L’Équipe, Lorient’s creative midfielder Enzo Le Fée is attracting interest from Germany this summer.

The 22-year-old had struggled to impose himself in the early part of the season, despite considerable hype and talent, but enjoyed a riotous end to the campaign, which has caught the eye of Bundesliga sides. That’s despite FCL considering offering the player a contract extension with his current deal running to 2024.

Two unnamed German clubs and several French teams are monitoring the player’s situation ahead of the summer transfer window, say the sports daily, who is on France under 21 duty this week.

Lyon president confirms contact with Corentin Tolisso

During Alexandre Lacazette’s unveiling as a Lyon player, president Jean-Michel Aulas confirmed that he is working on bringing another former Lyon player, Corentin Tolisso (27), back to the club.

Like Lacazette, Tolisso is a free agent having run down his contract at Bayern Munich, where he has experienced an injury-ridden spell.

On a potential return for Tolisso, Aulas said, “I can confirm that contact has been established. Tolisso is in a different context to Lacazette, but the contact has been established. Clearly, the contact wasn’t established as long ago as with Lacazette and there are other considerations.”

He continued, “But there are others players, free or not that interest us as well, because as I’ve said, the recruitment will be ambitious.”

On a return for Tolisso, new signing Lacazette said, “He’s a free agent so the club could lean towards him. I don’t know if he has any other offers, but I’m pushing for him to arrive. After that, I’ll let the President sort out the contractual side.”

Official | Jean-Kévin Augustin joins FC Basel

As reported by the Swiss club, Nantes’ French striker Jean-Kévin Augustin has joined FC Basel on a free transfer after his contract with the Coupe de France winners came to an end.

Having impressed with French youth teams, notably alongside Kylian Mbappé at under 19 level, and coming through at PSG, much was expected to the young Augustin but, after a promising season with RB Leipzig where he made 18 goal contributions in the 2017/18 campaign, the now 25-year-old has struggled for form and fitness, following reported attitude problems.

Spells with Monaco and Leeds United came to little before he joined Nantes where he was sent to the reserves in December 2020 to work on his fitness by then-coach Christian Gourcuff. It was later revealed that the player had been suffering from depression, long COVID & Guillain-Barré syndrome.

In two years at Nantes Augustin made just 15 outings, failing to score. In fact he hasn’t scored a league goal since the 2018/19 season in Germany but he will be hoping that, having signed a three-year contract with Basel, there’s a chance to rebuild his career in the Swiss Super League.

Mauro Icardi and Arnaud Kalimuendo on PSG’s ‘for sale’ list

As reported by Fabrice Hawkins, PSG have drawn up a list of players the club is looking to move on this summer transfer window and it includes strikers Mauro Icardi and youngster Arnaud Kalimuendo, who has spent the last two seasons on loan at Lens.

The 20-year-old Kalimuendo is yet to confirm his intentions for the future with his management but he is highly-regarded on the transfer market after 12 goals in 32 Ligue 1 games this season, which followed 12 more goal contributions (seven goals and five assists) in the 20/21 season with RCL.

It was reported earlier this week that the striker had turned down recently promoted Premier League side Nottingham Forest with Newcastle and Leicester also interested. Lens, meanwhile, had been hoping to secure the player for a third loan season but, given PSG are now looking to cash in on his potential market value, that seems unlikely. Rennes and OGC Nice lead the Ligue 1 contingent looking to sign Kalimuendo for next season.

Icardi, meanwhile, has signalled his intention to stay put in Paris despite underwhelming since his €50m move from Inter Milan.

Angers’ Mohamed-Ali Cho set to sign for Real Sociedad

L’Équipe report this afternoon that Angers forward Mohamed-Ali Cho is set to sign for Real Sociedad, with the La Liga side having beaten out Marseille to the French youth international’s signature.

The 18-year-old is set to sign a five-year deal with the Basques, with Cho having agreed personal terms after the two clubs found common ground over the transfer fee.

The transfer is set to bring Le Sco between €12m and €15m, as the La Liga side overtook OM, but also Eintracht Frankfurt, Real Betis and Salzburg to sign the prospect.

Cho, a former Everton and Paris Saint-Germain youth player, has made 32 appearances this season and scored four goals, as well as setting up another. At 18, he already has a total of 55 appearances in his two years as a professional so far.

His good form has led him to represent France at U21 level on 7 occasions. He had previously turned out for the England U15 and U16 teams as well before deciding to switch allegiances to the country of his birth.

Reims sign American defender Kobi Henry

Reims have this afternoon announced the signing of American defender Kobi Henry from USL Championship club Orange County, joining on a five-year deal.

The 18-year-old is a youth international with the USA and made his first professional appearances two years ago, going on to play 30 matches for the Calfornia team and scoring 2 goals. He has turned out for the USA U17, U19 and U20 teams as well as attending a USMNT training camp in December.

Henry will first turn out for the Reims reserves team, who play in National 2, and finished eighth in the fourth tier last season. The centre-back had already gone on trial at Reims in January, but had to wait until his 18th birthday before making the permanent move across the pond.

ESPN have indicated that the transfer fee is set to be around $700,000, making Henry’s transfer the most expensive in USL history. A potential cut of a future transfer fee would see that figure move past $1m.
