It’s the go-home episode of Friday Night SmackDown ahead of Super ShowDown in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia next Thursday and it will feature a huge eight-man tag team collision, a #1 Contender’s match, and the return of three legends!
Here’s what to expect from the 21 February episode of SmackDown live from the Gila River Arena in Glendale, Arizona.
Goldberg makes his long-awaited return to a WWE arena, less than a week ahead of his Universal Championship match against “The Fiend” at Super ShowDown. What does Goldberg have to say before his first match since squashing Dolph Ziggler at SummerSlam last August? Will we get a face-to-face confrontation between champion and challenger? Will we see a Spear?
But Goldberg isn’t the only legend making a triumphant return tonight. The Bella Twins, Nikki and Brie, will be guests on “A Moment of Bliss” with “The Goddess” Alexa Bliss and Nikki Cross. As many members of the IWC know, the twins both recently announced their pregnancies, and the rumour is that they will be inducted with this year’s 2020 Hall of Fame class on WrestleMania weekend; this is likely the time and place ton announce their induction.
After losing to Bayley in controversial fashion last week, Carmella is seeking for revenge and a rematch against the SmackDown Women’s Championship, and she’ll get it… if she can defeat Naomi in a #1 Contender’s match, with the winner going on to face Bayley for her championship at Super ShowDown. It seemed that since Naomi’s unexpected return at Royal Rumble that she was on a collision course to face the champion, but ‘Mella Money picked up the surprising win in the #1 Contender’s Fatal Four-way– that also included Naomi, Bliss, and Dana Brooke– which earned her her title match next week. Losing with the dirty finish last week to Bayley was a way to keep Carmella strong– something SmackDown’s Women’s division sorely needs– while giving her another chance to look good in a solid match to Naomi, one in which the latter is more than likely to win.
In a blending of storylines, the SmackDown Tag Team Champions The New Day and The Usos take on the team of The Miz, John Morrison, Dolph Ziggler & Robert Roode; Lacey Evans sits down with Renee Young for an “exclusive interview”; but most importantly, what is next for Otis after he was heartbroken by Mandy Rose on Valentine’s Day last week? Is there someone trying to get in-between the unlikely couple? Why did Otis receive a text from Mandy saying that she’d be late, only for her to actually be at the restaurant on time and waiting for Otis?
Hopefully we get some answers!
It all goes down at 8pm EST live on FOX.
