WESTMINSTER, MD — A razor blade was found inside a stuffed animal that came from a carnival in Westminster over the weekend, according to the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office. Now officials are advising those who attended the carnival and came home with innocuous toys to check them.
The woman who won the toy said she had played a game where the point is to get a Wiffle ball to go into a hole and win a prize. It was about 6 p.m. on Saturday, July 20, when she was at the Reese & Community Volunteer Fire Company carnival in the 1700 block of Baltimore Boulevard, officials said.
The next day, she heard a crunch coming the stuffed animal as her dog was playing with it, authorities reported.
When she looked more closely at the stuffed animal, she found a razor blade in one of its arms.
The dog was uninjured, but officials are asking anyone who won a stuffed animal at the game to check their toys. So far this is the only case that has been reported.
Investigators with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office reached out to the fire company, which said it was not a company-owned game and are cooperating with authorities in the investigation.
Anyone with information can call Deputy Merson at the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office at 410-386-5900.
