Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is in desperate need of reinforcements in several areas of the pitch after an underwhelming first half of the season.
Form has been sporadic but they find themselves just four points behind Chelsea in the last Champions League place.
A top four finish and a good result in one of the cup competitions would be a successful season in the midst of Solskjaer’s rebuilding job.
Midfield is where the club desperately need reinforcements as they contend with the absences of Paul Pogba and Scott McTominay through injury.
One player Manchester United have been linked with is Ajax star Donny van de Beek. The 22-year-old was instrumental in the Dutch club’s amazing run to the Champions League semi-final last season.
Van de Beek is capable of playing in both defensive and attacking roles in central midfield. He has six goals and four assists in the Eredivisie this season already.
