Newcastle, Leicester and Fulham lead transfer race for Charlton striker Macauley Bonne

The Addicks star has scored six goals in the Championship this season coming having come into Lee Bowyer’s side for the injured Lyle Taylor.

It’s believed the Magpies are slightly ahead in the transfer race as a route to first-team football is likely to be restricted if Bonne joins the Foxes or the Cottagers.

Bonne’s strikes have come against some of the top sides in the division, including Leeds United, West Bromwich Albion, Bristol City and Fulham.

This has led to numerous clubs casting their eyes over the forward who made the considerable leap from the National League in the summer.

He joined Charlton from Leyton Orient in a deal worth £200,000 with his representative Mathew Halford playing a key role in the move.

It’s never easy climbing just one level in the English football pyramid, but to move up three division and continue scoring has been impressive from the Zimbabwe international.

With Orient he netted 46 goals across two seasons, winning the National League title last season, leading to his move to The Valley.
