Didier Drogba takes selfie with Kylian Mbappe… 10 years after refusing when angry at Chelsea’s Champions League exit to Barcelona

The former Chelsea striker took a selfie with France and Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe – 10 years after refusing to do so after the Blues’ controversial Champions League exit to Barcelona.

Drogba was incensed with referee Tom Henning Ovrebo, who rejected Chelsea’s four penalty appeals in a second leg semi-final draw at Stamford Bridge, as Barcelona went through on away goals.

He was handed a six-game European ban and fined £85,000 for angrily confronting Ovrebo and shouting, ‘it’s a f****** disgrace’, into a television camera.

As a result, Drogba was clearly in no mood to take a picture with a young Mbappe, who is now considered one of the best footballers in the world.

But now Drogba has finally fulfilled the 20-year-old’s request, grabbing a picture with him on stage at Monday’s Ballon d’Or ceremony.

The Ivorian legend said: “Ten years ago after Chelsea vs Barcelona, a child came to me and wanted to take a picture.

“That day I said no because of the disgraceful refereeing decisions.

“I learned that the child was Kylian Mbappe. I want to pay my debt now.”
