Over the past few years, organic farming, like most parts of the world, is catching up in India. The growing awareness about the environment and the harmful effects of the pesticides used in conventional farming is encouraging more and more people to take up organic farming.
As of July, the total area under organic farming in the country has gone up by 20 percent to 27.7 lakh hectares (lh) till date from 23.02 lh brought under chemical-free cultivation last year, with MP and Rajasthan leading the way.
