Zlatan Ibrahimovic given two-match violent conduct ban for grabbing goalkeeper by the neck

Ibrahimovic, 37, has also been fined for his actions from the 86th minute of last week’s 2-0 defeat by New York City FC.

The legendary Swede grabbed Sean Johnson, NYCFC’s goalkeeper, by the neck after the glovesman bumped into him in the penalty area.

The incident came after Chris Pontius fired the rebound over the bar when Ibrahimovic hit the crossbar.

Both players were shown yellow cards for their roles in the incident, though MLS have decided to suspend Ibrahimovic for two games following a review.

Ibrahimovic, the former Manchester United forward, has now been banned three times since moving to the United States. The first came last May for hitting Michael Petrasso of Montreal on the side of the head, while he was handed his second suspension after sitting out the MLS All-Star Game in August.
