Spurs have not bought in the transfer market since January 2018 and in that time, have finished third and fourth respectively in the Premier League and have also reached this season’s Champions League final for the first time in their history.
Lucas Moura, who scored a hat-trick to propel Spurs to Madrid, was the last player the club signed and Match of the Day host and former Spurs striker Lineker, says Pochettino reiterated the need for the club to invest if they are to compete with Europe’s elite on a consistent basis.
“I interviewed [Pochettino] a couple of weeks ago for the Premier League Show; it was the first time I’d actually met him’” Lineker told The Times.
