What needs to be understood when using tarpaulin

Many people know about PVC tarpaulin, but there are not many people who really know how to use PVC tarpaulin correctly. Therefore, relevant people from PVC tarpaulin manufacturers have said that when using PVC tarpaulin, the following things are needed to be understood:

         1. PVC's tarpaulin needs to be breathable, and the influence factors of breath ability include the arrangement of the base fabric, density, materials, varieties of waterproof finishing agents, and resin adhesion. As the amount of resin adhesion increases, the air permeability of the tarpaulin decreases.           2. The tensile strength of PVC tarpaulin, PVC tarpaulin has to accept various tensions during use, such as being tight when it is tight, it will be subjected to tension, and the effect of wind, rain, saving and other additional forces during use.

         3. The durability of PVC tarpaulin. The damage to PVC tarpaulin is mainly caused by tearing, so tearing is an important goal of tarpaulin.

         4. Keep it dry as much as possible: After use, remember to hang the tarpaulin to air dry. If the tarpaulin is a bit dirty, rinse it gently with cold water. Never use chemical lotions or wash hard, this will damage the waterproof membrane on the surface of the fabric and reduce the waterproof effect of PVC tarpaulin. If the PVC tarpaulin is moldy, it will damage the waterproofs of the tarpaulin. If moldy occurs, use a sponge with a little cleaner and gently brush away the mold spots.

Causes of an Itchy Scalp

Most causes of scalp itchiness have to do with bacteria or some type of scalp buildup. However, there are a number of reasons your scalp could be irritated.

Some of the common skin conditions of an itchy scalp include:

  • Buildup of dead skin cells
  • Dryness or irritation
  • Fungal infections, such as scalp ringworm
  • Dry scalp or weather changes, like the dry air in winter months
  • Contact dermatitis (allergic reactions to ingredients in hair dye or products)
  • Excessive natural oils
  • Scalp psoriasis
  • Flaky scalp or dandruff
  • Head lice
  • Nerve problems
  • Symptom of autoimmune disease
  • Seborrheic dermatitis

If you notice your scalp is itchy right after you shampoo it, the symptoms could be directly related to your shampooing or conditioning habits.

Itchy Scalp Advice from an Expert

VEGAMOUR spoke with Anna Chacon, a dermatologist at MyPsorasisTeam, about how an itchy scalp can relate to shampooing habits.

Chacon said that people with itchy scalps might not be thoroughly washing out all the hair products they use, such as shampoo, conditioner, oils or waxes. “This can lead to an itchy scalp because of the changes in pH these products cause the scalp and hair shafts and follicles, leaving them prone to dryness [and] flakiness,” said Chacon.

It could also be that your itchy scalp is caused by a lack of conditioner. “On the other hand, not applying adequate product thoroughly after the wash (leave-in conditioner/oils) can also cause an itchy scalp because a pH balance is not being restored,” Chacon said.

Shampoo Ingredients That Can Cause Irritation

Although how you shampoo and condition your hair has a huge impact on the comfort of your scalp, what you put on your hair is also important. If you’ve determined that you are rinsing your hair and scalp thoroughly and you’re using an adequate amount of conditioner, the next step is to assess whether the ingredients in your hair care products might be causing irritation to your scalp.

Set aside a weekend or so to only use your regular shampoo and conditioner. Do not put any type of styling aids on your hair. If this solves the problem, then it’s possible that the ingredients in your styling mousse or gel could be causing your scalp to itch.

For best results, opt for products that do not contain these common irritants:

    • Phthalates
    • Sulfates
    • Silicones
    • Parabens
    • Formaldehyde

      Related: Sulfate-Free Shampoos and Conditioners

      Shampooing Frequency

Sometimes, it’s hard to tell if you are washing your hair too much or not enough. If you overshampoo your hair, it can make your scalp dry and itchy. If you shampoo too infrequently, it can lead to scalp buildup, which can also make your scalp itchy.

How frequently should you shampoo? While most of us shampoo and condition as part of our showering routine, you should only shampoo and condition your hair when it becomes soiled. Finer, thinner heads of hair may need more frequent shampooing because the oily sebum can travel more easily down the hair shaft.

Similarly, hair that is very curly or dense may require less frequent shampooing because the scalp oils do not travel down the hair.

To address the needs of your specific hair texture and type, consider using a “smart” shampoo and conditioner that instantly adjusts to the hair on contact, providing ideal amounts of volume moisture and protection.

Other Tips for Treating an Itchy Scalp

Aside from mindful shampooing and conditioning, here are some other actions you can take to help balance your scalp.

      Use a Scalp Serum Regularly

For best results, use a detoxifying serum, which can help gently clarify the scalp while delivering helpful nutrients to create a healthy scalp biome that will be comfortable and itch-free.

See: Get to Know VEGAMOUR’s Best-Selling Scalp Products

      Use a Dry Shampoo

Also, use a cruelty-free dry shampoo to gently absorb oil, perspiration and odors on the scalp and hair between shampoos. Occasionally skipping a shampoo treatment in favor of scalp-balancing dry shampoo might help improve a dry scalp condition.

      Don’t Scratch or Pick

Scratching at or picking at your scalp can compound itchy scalp issues. This can cause abrasions which create open places on the skin where bacteria can thrive. Also, picking at the scalp could lead to scabbing, scarring and possibly even some hair loss.

      Homeopathic Treatments

Some essential oils may be able to relieve the itching you are experiencing on your scalp. However, it’s important to dilute two to three drops of your preferred essential oils into a carrier oil, such as coconut oil, marula oil or olive oil. Here are some of the essential oils you might want to use to make a homemade scalp oil treatment:

      • Tea tree oil
      • Essential oil of rosemary
      • Essential oil of lemongrass

          Medical Care

If your itchy scalp persists, a doctor or dermatologist to rule out conditions like scalp psoriasis or head lice. He or she can also determine if your issue is an allergic reaction to a hair product you use.

To treat your itchy scalp, a doctor might prescribe a medicated shampoo with an active ingredient that is anti-inflammatory and relieves the itch. Oral antibiotics might also be prescribed if there are reddish patches; raised or inflamed, itchy patches; or pustules.

How Communities Are Learning To Stop Worrying And Love Robotics

            Time to read: 5 min

The “Robotics to the Rescue” session title from CES 2021 captured the shift in sentiment towards robotics that has taken place as the pandemic has led people to discover how robots can make life safer and better for all of us, increasing acceptance. Robotics stands out as one of the fields where both innovation and adoption will benefit most from the aftermath of the pandemic. This will have massive implications, from autonomous driving to drone delivery to more resilient supply chains. Robotics can help us address a number of key economic and societal challenges, and change the way we live. But a lot hinges on the ability of industry and regulators to work together.

            The Pandemic as an Accelerator

This is perhaps unsurprising, given that Covid-19 has required the widespread adoption of social distancing, isolation and quarantines, but the 2020 pandemic has been a powerful accelerator for both innovation and adoption in robotics technology. Kathy Winter, who heads Intel’s Autonomous Transportation and Infrastructure Division, put it very clearly: “The key use cases were already envisioned, but this past year has accelerated adoption across the board: the need for sanitizing factories and making them safe for workers, the need for a sanitized vehicle,” have all become much clearer and more urgent.

This has translated into massive business growth for those companies that were ready to step in. Starship, which deploys ground delivery robots, especially for food and groceries, has seen its volumes triple in the aftermath of the pandemic, says CEO Ahti Heinla. James Ryan Burgess, CEO of Wing, could boast a 6-fold increase in their services – Wing offers deliveries through a fleet of flying drones equipped with both the traditional rotors and with wings.

Robots as a Force for Good

The fact that robots could come to the rescue, as the session’s title indicated, has also helped change the public perception, shifting it away from the classic sci-fi dystopian fears. People have started to appreciate the fact that robots can help bring them food and other supplies in a safe, contactless way; they have started to envision the safety benefits of being picked up by a sanitized driverless car; they now realize the value that drones can offer by accelerating the safe delivery of medical supplies. And companies have seen how robotics and drones can help supply chains adapt to disruptive shocks. Heinla stressed that over this difficult period, Starship has been focusing on integrating its services in the communities it serves. “There is a lot of expectation that robotics will make everything better. We are demonstrating here that the future is right now.”

And Kathy Winters stressed that this has been a great demonstration of how robots are not coming in to steal jobs, but to the contrary, they can keep the economy going and save or create jobs. While for several years we have heard concerns that Automated Vehicles would put all truck drivers out of a job, the reality is that there has been for a while a shortage of drivers, and therefore companies like Starship and Wing have filled a crucial gap to keep economic activity going.

The Need for Speed – and the Economics of Scale

Robots and other autonomous machines represent a truly revolutionary technology. Burgess pointed out that while his drones have all the highly complex mechanical hardware and engineering complexity that flying machines require, at the same time their technology evolves at a speed comparable to that of consumer electronics. “This is truly a paradigm shift” he stressed.

But Winters stressed that scalability is crucial if we want drones, AVs and other robots to really solve the economic and societal challenges that they can indeed address. And here is where the digital aspect of the technologies comes into play: all different AVs, be they large or small, on the ground or airborne, need to sense, to see, to plan and react. The technological solutions required, from data collection to software analytics, can be designed in scalable ways.

Scale and speed are also crucial to the economics of robotics. The session speakers pointed out that delivery costs are very significant, even if often they are not directly charged to the final consumer. The fact that drones and AVs can lower costs has very important economic benefits – not to mention the environmental benefits that can derive from more efficient delivery systems.

Safety and Regulations: The Need for a Public-Private Partnership

All panelists agreed that as of today, regulations are one of the main obstacles to faster adoption of drones and other robotics. Technology is moving very fast, and the regulations are lagging behind. In some cases, the regulatory hurdles can seem absurd: Burgess explained that since regulations have been developed for manned aviation, they still require seatbelts and an on-board flight manual, clearly unnecessary on an unmanned flying drone.

But regulations are there for a reason, and both regulators and industry innovators have the same interest in safety. Kathy Winters stressed it is supremely important to agree on common standards of safety for both AVs on the roads and for flying drones.

This is an area where industries and regulators can learn from each other and need to work together in close cooperation if we want to unlock the enormous potential of these technologies.

New Giants or More Small Players?

Given the strong economic incentives and growing demand, a growing number of new players are jumping into the field. So what will the robotics industry of the future look like? Will there be room for many smaller players, or will it be dominated by a few tech giants?

Here the opinions differed. One argument was that while it’s (relatively) easy to build a prototype of a drone, it is a lot harder to safely develop and deploy a fleet at scale. The need to comply with complex regulations makes it even harder for new entrants, so that experience and size give established players a major advantage over new entrants.

On the other hand, the rapid growth in demand and the increasing range of potential use cases imply that there is plenty of room for new players – we are far from fighting over a stable market share. And more layers can help push forward the dialogue with regulators, accelerating the progress towards faster adoption and acceptance.

One vision points to greater cooperation and an ecosystem approach; the other towards the relatively rapid dominance of a smaller number of large players. Developments on the competitive and market front might be almost as exciting as those on the technology.

And one thing is for sure, based on the panel’s insights: the growth in robotics in the coming years will exceed most people’s expectations, changing the way we live. Wing – said Burgess – has already started delivering food to people taking a picnic in a park in Helsinki, and delivering books from a library to kids stuck at home in the pandemic.

Heubach required to file for insolvency

Heubach filed an application on April 23 for the opening of regular insolvency proceedings over its assets with the competent insolvency court in Braunschweig and, at the same time, applied for the jurisdiction of the Braunschweig insolvency court as the group court for the German subgroup of the Heubach Group.

The court is expected to appoint an insolvency administrator to examine the possibility of continuing business operations and possible options for restructuring and/or selling the business in due course.

With the step announced today, the group is reacting to the threat of over-indebtedness in the context of rapidly changing financial markets of the past two years and the unsuccessful attempt of achieving a financial restructuring with all shareholders and lenders. Respective Heubach companies are working to meet their obligations to employees, customers and suppliers within given financial possibilities and legal framework.

Oil to water-lubricated tailshaft bearing conversions

Thordon Bearings has completed the oil to water-lubricated tailshaft bearing conversions of the first four of 15 Impala Terminals Colombia-operated tug/tow boats.

Impala Zambrano, the first of 15 triple-screw and twin-screw pusher boats scheduled for oil-to-water conversion, was retrofitted in July 2015 with a RiverTough bearing and TG100 shaft seal combination.

Three triple-screw and one twin-screw pusher vessels have since been converted and Thordon’s Colombian distributor Delta Marine and River Services will now work on the next vessels in the series. All 15 tug/towboats are scheduled for conversion by the end of 2017.

The low level of water in Colombia’s waterways, an effect of the drought caused by El Niño, is a major concern for Latin American owners of workboats operating on the region’s rivers.

Jorge Luis Vélez, Manager, Delta Marine and River Services, said: “By far the biggest problem with the original oil-lubricated system was the small 4mm (0.157-in.) clearance between the propeller and Kort nozzles. When silt or sand lodged between them, it prevented the circulation of lubricating oil, resulting in increased friction and high bearing temperatures. Ultimately it was destroying the bronze bearing, potentially causing catastrophic damage to the shaft.

The success of that first conversion resulted in Impala Terminals Colombia contracting Delta Marine and River Services for RiverTough/TG100 retrofits to a further fourteen Magdalena-operating vessels.

Andy Edwards, Commercial Director, Thordon Bearings, added:  “We hear operators with traditional oil-lubricated bearing systems having to replace them every two years or so due to excessive wear, which is completely unnecessary. Data from vessels operating Thordon’s RiverTough bearings show typical wear rates of 0.075mm to 0.100mm (0.003 to 0.004-in.) in 6000 to 7000 hours of annual use. They routinely outlast rubber bearings by a factor of two or more.”

Delta Marine has begun retrofitting RiverTough bearings and TG100 seals to the remaining vessels, each of which will require bearings and seals for shaft diameters ranging from 165mm (6.5-in.) to 186mm (7.3-in.).

Megan Thee Stallion Traveled Under the Sea With Her Marbled, Blue Manicure

Once again, Megan Thee Stallion is drawing our attention to her 10 impeccably sculpted nails. On May 2, she stepped on the Met Gala red carpet with a lengthy French manicure complete with golden textured tips and a blue-marbled accent nail. Three days after the annual fashion event, her gilded French manicure was gone and replaced with marbled blue and pink nails that resemble the waves of the sea.

The Houston rapper's nails appeared in an Instagram photo dump she shared on May 4. In most of the photos, you can see a peek of the long nails, but it's the last slide where we get a close-up nailfie showing all the intricate details. If you're a Hottie or simply obsessed with her manicures, you probably know by now that Meg prefers long, lipstick-shaped nails. So it's no surprise that these nails were filed into the unique shape.

We have a good feeling that nail artist Coca Michelle, who usually works with Thee Stallion, looked to the ocean as inspiration to recreate its waving waters. Blobs of bright blue, white, and pink were swirled together to create this abstract design that resembles watercolor art. The pearls on each nail complete this sea-inspired manicure that would be beloved by Ariel and all the creatures in The Little Mermaid.

            Instagram content

This content can also be viewed on the site it originates from.

There's not a day that goes by where we aren't obsessed with every new manicure Thee Stallion shares with her fans, so it's no surprise that we can't remove our eyes from these serene-looking nails. These swirled nails look so much like waves that it makes us want to put on a swimsuit and go lay on a beach.

How VEGAMOUR Is Supporting HairToStay to Empower Cancer Patients This Giving Tuesday

            clothes design program free

At VEGAMOUR, we’re uniquely able to understand how hair influences how you feel about yourself — and how you feel, full stop. Hair and confidence go hand in hand, so a fresh cut or updated hair wellness routine can help you feel both renewed and self-assured.

This Giving Tuesday, we’re proud to be partnering with HairToStay, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing financial support to cancer patients so they can afford to use scalp cooling technology, which helps preserve hair during chemotherapy treatment. By helping maintain their hair, it ensures one part of their life remains steady amid the turmoil of a cancer diagnosis.

Here’s how HairToStay impacts lives daily and how VEGAMOUR is supporting this incredible cause for Giving Tuesday.

The Emotional Cost of Chemotherapy & Hair Loss

VEGAMOUR takes a holistic and thoughtful approach to hair wellness — that goes for self care, too. That’s especially true for people receiving chemotherapy to treat cancer.

Chemotherapy works by targeting any cells that multiply at a rapid pace, impacting both cancer cells and healthy cells — ultimately leading to hair loss within days or weeks. Hair loss can last through the duration of treatment, which can often be months.

Chemotherapy is essential for saving lives, but that doesn’t lessen the pain of losing one’s hair. Yes, hair does eventually grow back, but it can be years before it returns to the original length, and often not the original texture.

            Scalp Cooling/Cold Cap Advantages

New technologies have emerged to preserve hair during the course of treatment — such as scalp cooling technology, or cold caps. It works by lowering the temperature of the scalp, which narrows blood vessels to reduce the amount of chemotherapy that can reach the hair follicles. Cooling the scalp also slows cell metabolism, which makes hair follicles a less vulnerable target of chemotherapy.

Automated scalp cooling systems pair a wearable cap with a refrigeration machine and are available at some, but not all, cancer treatment centers. For those receiving cancer treatment at a facility not offering automated systems, manual cold caps are portable, wearable caps similar to ice packs. They are stored in a cooler and are reapplied through the length of a given chemo session.

While often effective, scalp cooling and cold caps are rarely covered by health insurance — and without that coverage, costs can add up quickly. Combined with the financial strain that cancer can already put on patients, cold cap and scalp cooling treatments are out of reach for many.

            How HairToStay Helps Cancer Patients

HairToStay works to increase the accessibility to these treatments. The organization subsidizes treatment costs for patients and also raises awareness, provides information and offers support to patients who are weighing their options. To date, HairToStay has provided access to scalp cooling and cold caps to more than 5,100 people through subsidies between $1,000 and $1,500 covering a substantial amount of the costs. How to Optimize Your Audio Experience: Using Bone Conduction Hea

Bone conduction headphones offer a unique audio experience by transmitting sound through vibrations in your cheekbones and jawbone rather than directly into your ears.

Many users wonder if they can use these headphones in conjunction with earplugs. The answer is yes, and in this comprehensive guide, we’ll delve into the benefits, applications, limitations, and best practices of pairing bone conduction headphones with earplugs.

How Bone Conduction Headphones and Earplugs Work Together

First of all, understanding the technology behind bone conduction headphones is crucial for optimal usage. These headphones use oscillating transducers to generate sound vibrations, transmitting them through cheek and jaw bones directly to the inner ear. Simultaneously, earplugs create a tight seal to block external sound waves from entering the ear canal.

Despite the seal, bone conduction vibrations can still reach the inner ear, enabling users to listen to headphones while reducing external noise. This is the underlying technology that allows these two devices to work seamlessly together.

Benefits of Using Bone Conduction Headphones With Earplugs

Maintain Situational Awareness in Noisy Environments

Bone conduction headphones with earplugs are ideal for activities like running or cycling in noisy environments. While traditional headphones may drown out ambient sounds, the combination allows you to stay aware of your surroundings, enhancing safety.

Hear Audio Playback in Loud Workplaces

In workplaces with high noise levels, earplugs paired with bone conduction headphones provide a solution. The earplugs reduce ambient decibels, allowing the headphones to deliver clear audio, especially in settings like construction sites or factories.

            Get Enhanced Hearing Protection

The combination of earplugs and bone conduction headphones at lower volumes provides superior hearing protection. This is essential for those exposed to prolonged loud noise, as earplugs act as the first barrier against environmental sounds.

Listen to Music in Noisy Gyms

Earplugs paired with bone conduction headphones create an immersive music experience in noisy environments like gyms. The earplugs reduce background noise, and the headphones deliver motivating music while maintaining spatial awareness.

When to Use Bone Conduction Headphones With Earplugs

Pairing these devices is suitable for various situations, including airplane travel, loud offices, construction work, cycling, studying, and attending live events. The combination enhances hearing protection and audio enjoyment in challenging acoustic environments.

Limitations of Using Bone Conduction Headphones With Earplugs

While beneficial, there are limitations to consider, such as potential music quality degradation and reduced spatial awareness. Users may find communication challenging, especially with both ears plugged. Existing hearing loss can impact headphone clarity, and it’s crucial to be aware of legal restrictions in certain situations.

Best Practices for Using Bone Conduction Headphones With Earplugs

Considering both their advantages and limiations, below are some best practices for effective use:

            • Keep at least one ear unplugged for spatial awareness.
            • Alternate ears periodically.
            • Utilize communication modes to amplify ambient sounds.
            • Choose foam earphone tips for better noise blockage.
            • Consider custom-molded earplugs for optimal fit.
            • Ensure a snug fit for both devices.
            • Avoid total sensory deprivation.
            • Temporarily remove earplugs in conversations.
            • Exercise caution in hazardous situations requiring auditory awareness.

Pairing bone conduction headphones with earplugs offers a versatile and effective audio solution in various environments. By understanding the benefits, limitations, and best practices, users can optimize their listening experience while ensuring safety and hearing protection. Use this combination wisely to elevate your audio enjoyment.
