McLaren expecting tough time in tight qualifying

The McLaren team admitted that it was facing a tough battle going into qualifying for the French Grand Prix, with the midfield runners proving very evenly matched in Friday’s practice sessions.

Daniel Ricciardo was the top McLaren in FP1, while Lando Norris moved ahead in the afternoon. However both drivers were about a second off the top time for the session in each case.

“Tough first day, tricky conditions playing the biggest part,” reported Norris whose best lap time for the day was 1:33.822s. “The temperature made it difficult to keep the tyres in a good window.

“Driving the car became a bit of a challenge especially with the wind,” he acknowledged. “We’ve got a few bits we can definitely improve upon, but we still have quite a bit of work to do.

“It’s very close with the rest of the field so every little bit is going to help,” he added. “”But it’s also going to make qualifying tough going into tomorrow.

“Hopefully we can find a little bit extra to make our lives a little bit easier!”

My way of comparison Ricciardo’s best lap clocked in at 1:34.079s, although he felt he’d been stronger in the morning and was disappointed not to keep pace in the afternoon.

“First day done, it was quite a warm one!” he said. “The morning was pretty promising. We had a good start to first practice, but then in second practice, competitively, we didn’t seem as good.

“I’m not really sure why right now, but we’ll look into it,” he added. “It didn’t feel too bad and it’s all very close. We’re probably only missing a few tenths right now.

“That said, I’m not too concerned, we’ll work at it tonight. Generally, the feeling isn’t too bad, so we’ll just chip away and find a bit more pace for tomorrow.”

McLaren executive director Andrea Stella noted the difference between racing on street circuits such as Monaco and Baku, and this weekend’s permanent race circuit in Le Castellet.

“That removes one set of challenges, but also adds some different ones,” he pointed out. “Today, we focused on tyre work, set-up and testing aerodynamic parts. The sessions went well, and we’ve plenty of data to study overnight.

“The field looks very tight at Paul Ricard this weekend and we’ll work hard this evening to ensure we maximise our opportunities for qualifying and the race.”

Heading into their WWE Championship Hell in a Cell match on Sunday, Drew McIntyre pinned Bobby Lashley in the main event of last night’s Raw.

A six-man tag match with McIntyre & The Viking Raiders facing Lashley, AJ Styles & Omos was made after Lashley caused McIntyre vs. Styles to end in a disqualification. Near the end of the six-man tag, Lashley was caught off guard when Styles went for a tag in the corner and tagged him in. McIntyre capitalized on that by hitting the Claymore on Lashley and pinning him.

Lashley and McIntyre’s Hell in a Cell match on Sunday also has the stipulation that — if McIntyre loses — he won’t be able to challenge for the WWE Championship again while Lashley is still champion.

Rhea Ripley is defending her Raw Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair on Sunday. Last night, they got into a pull-apart brawl that officials had to attempt to break up multiple times.

Charlotte lost to Nikki Cross by countout earlier in the night due to having her attention turned to Ripley. When Charlotte attacked Cross after the match, Ripley laid Charlotte out with Riptide. Charlotte later attacked Ripley and brawled with her after Ripley won a match against Asuka.

A new match was also added to Hell in a Cell last night, with Alexa Bliss set to face Shayna Baszler on Sunday.

Plus, Eva Marie made her return to Raw last night but didn’t compete in her announced match. It had been announced that Marie would be facing Naomi, but Marie instead came out with the debuting Piper Niven. Niven took Marie’s place in the match and quickly defeated Naomi.

Niven wasn’t identified by name  and the announcers reacted like they didn’t know who she was. Marie announced herself as the winner of the match, taking credit for Niven’s win. Niven excitedly hugged Marie, but Marie didn’t look too enthused when she did that.

Craquante en bikini marron, Doutzen a testé son équilibre sur un skateboard.

C’est pour la marque Hünkemoller que Doutzen Kroes a enchaîné les poses. La jolie blonde est devenue son ambassadrice en 2016, deux ans après avoir quitté l’armada d’égéries de Victoria’s Secret.

Ericsson lost ‘feeling to fight’ during lean years in F1

Maiden IndyCar winner Marcus Ericsson says his lean years in F1 dissipated his “feeling to fight and go for wins”, but the Swede’s motivation is once again sky high.

Ericsson spent five full seasons in Formula 1, from 2014 to 2018, racing for Caterham and Sauber-Alfa Romeo, but with little to show for his efforts in the lower tier of the field.

At the end of 2018, Ericsson called it a day on his time as a Grand Prix driver and migrated to the US in search of a new beginning in IndyCar. A rookie season with Schmidt Peterson Motorsports was followed by a move to Chip Ganassi Racing the following year during which he scored nine top-10 finishes.

And the 30-year-old finally returned to the winner’s circle last weekend at Belle Isle, but it was a long and tough wait for Ericsson whose last stood on the top step of a podium in 2013 following his win in a round of the GP2 series.

“I think it would be tough for anyone to go eight years without winning a race when that’s what you do,” he said. “My job is to win a race, and I haven’t done it for eight years. Of course, it’s going to take a toll.

“I was winning races pretty much every year, going up the ranks. It was something that you were sort of used to and targeting.

“When you reach the top level like I did in 2014 to F1, I was in smaller teams that didn’t have the resources to compete for wins. Then you as a driver sort of forget that feeling to fight and go for wins.”

Ericsson says his last weekend in Detroit made him realize how his slow grind in F1 had consumed his desire to win.

“It was not until I went to IndyCar that I realised how much I missed that feeling to go into a weekend and have the mindset to try to win, try to beat everyone,” he added.

“You need to be mentally strong and believe in yourself, believe in your abilities. I’ve done that. I’ve bounced back strong.

“I think that’s one of my strengths, that I’ve been having good mental strength. But, for sure, it’s tough.

“I think I showed that I can do it. I think it’s going to help going forward.”

Russell: No points for Williams ‘would not be a failure’

Williams driver George Russell has insisted that the team not managing to score any points this season would not necessarily mean that the year had been a failure.

The 23-year-old Briton has completed 43 races for the team since his debut in the 2019 Australian Grand Prix. While he’s become a regular presence in the second round of qualifying, he’s yet to finish in the top ten in any of them.

However Russell did pick up points in last year’s Sakhir GP when he sat in for an unwell Lewis Hamilton at Mercedes. He was on course to win the race before problems during his pit stop followed by a late puncture left him crossing the line in ninth.

Since returning to Williams, Russell has not finished higher than 14th place, and retired from last week’s Azerbaijan GP with gearbox issues before the final two-lap sprint shootout.

It means that Russell, together with his team mate Nicholas Latifi and Haas rookies Mick Schumacher and Nikita Mazepin, are the only drivers not to score points from the first six rounds of the 2021 championship.

“It doesn’t bother me, no, but it’s certainly a goal,” Russell told Autosport magazine when asked about the lack of points. “That is the target.

“[But] if we end this season point-less I would not have seen this season as a failure,” he insisted. “If we end the season with some points, I think it would have been a great success.

“For us psychologically, we’ve got to recognise that – if we’ve done absolutely everything, if we’ve had a fantastic weekend and came home 13th – we need to recognise that and not be downbeat that we didn’t get points.

“13th may have been the absolute maximum we did,” he added, comparing the team’s struggle to finish in the points in 2021 with McLaren’s efforts to snatch victory at the other end of the grid.

“Points for us is effectively a win for McLaren, sort of the deltas,” he suggested. “If McLaren go this whole season without winning a race, we’re not gonna see that as a failure.

“If they do have a victory, that would have been a massive success, and that’s a really good way to look at it.”

Russell’s contract with Williams expires at the end of the current season, and he’s still seen as being in pole position to move to Mercedes next season should either Hamilton or Valtteri Bottas leave Brackley.

Inevitably that would be a huge blow to Williams, as the team’s head of vehicle performance Dave Robson admitted this week.

“For me personally I think he would be a big loss,” Robson told Motorsport-Total. “It would be a massive loss, but it’s not necessarily something I have a huge influence on.

“He’s just improved endlessly and his role in the team is special,” he explained.

“He was fantastic to work with even when we first put him through the evaluation. It was obvious he had something about him, a really outstanding talent to drive the car.

“I think we’ve all put a lot of time and effort into helping him where he needed a bit of help to guide him and it would be a real shame to lose that, without really seeing the benefit of it in our car.

“He’s just got better and better, and has developed almost with every race. Not so much in terms of driving – that’s always been very strong – but in terms of his understanding of the whole game we’re playing, everything we need to get right and what we need his help with.”

Robson said he hadn’t been shocked by Russell’s success in his stand-in stint at Mercedes last year.

“It wasn’t a big surprise that he was able to jump in the car and do that. I don’t think particularly much changed when he came back, apart from his hunger and desire to have a faster car”

Attentats au Sri Lanka : trois enfants du milliardaire Anders Holch Povlsen tués

Les célébrations de Pâques ont été entachées par une terrible actualité. Le Sri Lanka a été frappé par une série d’attentats meurtriers le 21 avril 2019, huit au total. Les explosions, étalées sur plusieurs heures, ont touché quatre hôtels et trois églises, où la messe de Pâques y était célébrée. Selon un nouveau bilan officiel annoncé lundi 22 avril, au moins 290 personnes ont été tuées et 500 autres blessées. Plusieurs dizaines d’étrangers ont perdu la vie dans ce pays prisé des touristes pour ses plages idylliques et sa nature verdoyante.

Parmi les étrangers présents lors des attentats, Anders Holch Povlsen, la plus grande fortune du Danemark. Le milliardaire de 46 ans se trouvait en vacances avec son épouse Anne et leurs enfants Alma, Astrid, Agnes et Alfred. Le 18 avril dernier, Alma Povlsen avait publié une photo de ses deux soeurs et son frère, photographiés de dos au bord d’une piscine, sur sa page Instagram.

Les attentats du Sri Lanka émeuvent aux quatre coins du monde. Céline Dion a notamment exprimé sa peine sur les réseaux sociaux. “Je suis très attristée par l’horrible nouvelle des attentats à la bombe au Sri Lanka. Cette violence insensée n’a pas de place dans notre monde. Mes sincères condoléances aux victimes, à leur famille et au peuple sri-lankais. Mort de Jean-Pierre Marielle : Jean-Paul Belmondo est “effondré”

Nous venons d’apprendre la mort de Jean-Pierre Marielle, des suites d’une longue maladie selon sa famille, mercredi 24 avril 2019. C’est son épouse Agathe qui a annoncé la triste nouvelle de son décès à 87 ans. De nombreuses personnalités, pas seulement du septième art, ont fait part de leur tristesse. Jean-Paul Belmondo, lui, a perdu un grand ami. Son avocat Michel Godest a transmis à Purepeople quelques mots de Bébel dans un communiqué.

“Quel coup dur ! Je suis effondré ! On a beau s’y attendre, une nouvelle pareille est dure à encaisser ! Jean-Pierre, c’était plus qu’un ami. J’étais son ombre, il était la mienne. Nous avons fait les 400 coups ensemble ! Et la France perd un grand comédien, une forte personnalité sachant tout à la fois manier l’humour de façon redoutable et travailler avec le plus grand sérieux. Jean-Pierre, tu resteras toujours à mes côtés.“

Marielle et Belmondo se sont rencontrés au Conservatoire d’art dramatique de Paris au début des années 1950. Avec Claude Rich, Jean Rochefort, Michel Beaune, Bruno Cremer, Pierre Vernier mais aussi Annie Girardot, Françoise Fabian ou encore Jean-Pierre Mocky, ils formaient la bande du conservatoire, comme le rappelle le Huffington Post. Leur amitié a donné lieu un livre de Philippe Durant mais surtout à d’innombrables films.

Jean-Paul Belmondo et Jean-Pierre Marielle se sont donné la réplique dans Tendre Voyou et Échappement libre de Jean Becker, en 1966 et 1964, mais aussi dans Peau de banane de Marcel Ophüls, en 1963. Il y a eu Hold-Up d’Alexandre Arcady en 1985 où les deux copains faisaient face à la somptueuse Kim Cattral, future Samantha de Sex and The City. Ils jouaient aussi leur propre rôle dans Les Acteurs de Bertrand Blier en 2000.

Grey’s Anatomy : Le beau gosse Giacomo Gianniotti s’est marié !

Dimanche 28 avril 2019, Giacomo Gianniotti s’est marié en Italie avec sa compagne, Nichole G. L’acteur de 29, star de la série Grey’s Anatomy, lui a dit oui à la superbe Villa Pocci près du lac de Castel Gandolfo dans la campagne romaine, selon le magazine américain People.

Celui qui incarne le très sexy Dr. Andrew DeLuca dans la série star Grey’s Anatomy depuis 2015 avait demandé sa compagne en mariage en novembre 2017. Fou de joie, ce Canadien d’origine italienne avait partagé la grande nouvelle sur son compte Instagram : “Elle a dit oui… Je suis vraiment un mec chanceux et je n’aurais jamais voulu faire ce délirant chemin de vie avec quelqu’un d’autre. Je t’aime. Merci.“

Nichole G., maquilleuse, avait quant à elle posté plusieurs photos de son énorme bague de fiançailles : “Hier, mon meilleur ami m’a demandé de l’épouser de la plus romantique des manières, un jour mettant en lumière notre amour. Nous sommes ravis. Je ne voudrais passer ma vie avec personne d’autre. Je t’aime chéri et j’ai hâte d’être ta femme. Cet homme m’a montré ce qu’est le véritable amour. Quel rêve devenu réalité, pincez-moi“, avait-elle commenté.

Depuis son arrivée dans la célèbre série médicale portée par Ellen Pompeo (Meredith Grey), le personnage d’Andrew DeLuca a gagné le coeur des téléspectateurs. Leurs aventures se poursuivent actuellement avec une 15e saison qui continue de cartonner outre-Atlantique – Grey’s vient de dépasser Urgences en terme de longévité – et que diffuse TF1 chaque mercredi.

David Beckham fête ses 44 ans en famille : câlins et bisous avec sa fille Harper

David Beckham a fêté ses 44 ans lors d’une humble soirée d’anniversaire en famille, le 2 mai 2019. L’ancien footballeur était avec sa femme, Victoria, et leurs quatre enfants, Brooklyn (20 ans), Romeo (16 ans), Cruz (14 ans) et Harper (7 ans). Les parents du sportif, Sandra et David, étaient également de la partie. Victoria n’a pu résister à l’envie de documenter cette soirée sur son compte Instagram. Ses 25 millions de followers ont ainsi pu découvrir un gâteau d’anniversaire manifestement fait maison et de tendres moments de complicité entre David Beckham et son adorable Harper.

Comme une famille normale, ils ont tous chanté Joyeux Anniversaire lorsque le gâteau est arrivé et l’ancien footballeur a soufflé ses bougies d’une traite, alors que la fillette posait un tendre baiser sur la joue de son papa. La question des cadeaux est toujours délicate lorsqu’il s’agit de faire plaisir à quelqu’un de très riche qui possède déjà tout ou presque. La fortune de David Beckham est estimée à 891 millions d’euros. Victoria lui a simplement offert… des déodorants La Roche Posay, d’une valeur de 9 euros. “Je lui avais demandé, alors…“, commente le père de famille sur Instagram. Il a également été amusé par l’une des cartes de voeux offertes par ses fils, de couleur blanche. “Papa, j’ai pris cette carte parce qu’elle est assortie à tes cheveux“, est-il écrit.

Victoria Beckham a la chance d’être gravée dans la peau de son mari, précisément sur sa main gauche, où le footballeur a fait tatouer un très sobre “Victoria”. C’est cette image qu’elle a choisi de montrer pour le 44e anniversaire de sa moitié de toujours. “Bon anniversaire ! On t’aime si fort“, a-t-elle indiqué. Un joli moment de complicité en famille.
