RAW Ratings & Viewership, Brock Lesnar Tops ESPN Power Rankings

– Monday’s WWE RAW drew a 3.36 rating cable and averaged 4.81 million viewers. These numbers are down from last week’s 3.54 rating with 5.02 million average viewers. The hourly viewership was as follows:

Hour 1: 4.98 million
Hour 2: 4.89 million
Hour 3: 4.57 million

– Brock Lesnar topped this week’s ESPN WWE Power Rankings. Here’s this week’s Top 10:

1. Brock Lesnar
2. Dolph Ziggler
3. The Shield
4. CM Punk
5. Mark Henry
6. Ryback
7. Kane
8. Daniel Bryan
9. Team Rhodes Scholars
10. The Undertaker

Triple H, The Rock and John Cena were not on this week’s RAW and thus, were not included in the list. However, ESPN seems to feel that RAW is fine without them:

“If The Rock and John Cena fail to appear on TV, they’ll fail to appear in the rankings. Besides, with the awesome buildup of Punk versus Taker so far, who needs them?”

WWE Confirms RVD At HOF, RVD Speaks On Potential Of A WWE Return

As we noted earlier today, The Score reporter Arda Ocal reported that former TNA Wrestling performer Rob Van Dam was in attendance at the WWE Hall Of Fame 2013 induction ceremony.

WWE.com has since confirmed RVD’s presence at the event (and a photo of RVD with Paul Heyman, Tommy Dreamer and Joey Styles has surfaced) in a new article on their official website.

The WWE.com website article features comments from RVD. “I’m here to support my boy Booker T,” noted the former Mr. Monday Night. He continued, “[It’s great] seeing a lot of guys I haven’t seen since I left.”

WWE.com also asked Van Dam if he would ever return to the company in the future. To that, “The Whole F’N Show” simply replied, “There’s always a chance.”

Rajah.com Mailbag – Edition #69

If you have a wrestling or site related question you would like answered, you can send it in to the Mailbag by clicking HERE (please select the “Mailbag” drop-down).

From: Morgan

Any info on Fandango’s valet? Is she a wrestler? A model? A real dancer? The
first few times I saw her I thought they were using different women but it
seems to be the same one at every TV taping now. Glad the mailbag is back!
Now just to bring back the 5000 word weekly “news and rumors” from the dawn
of the internet!

Cewsh: The best answer that there is right now about Fandango’s dance partner is that she is named Sophie Strutt. That’s it. That’s all we know. There are some rumors floating around that she may be replaced by NXT Diva Summer Rae soon, but until that happens, we’re left with the mysterious Ms. Strutt.

From: gabenolan

YES THE MAIL BAG IS BACK…. BUT is there any chance we will be able to see
ken shamrock back in wwe for a little stent like brock or rock .. he said hes
been trying but nothing has happened what do u think?

Cewsh: Unfortunately, Ken Shamrock is 49 years old. 50 year old guys who haven’t been on WWE tv in 15 years don’t tend to be very attractive free agents, so I wouldn’t hold my breath.

From: Jeff Salvetti

Who is the head booker for Raw?

Cewsh: Well long standing Head Writer of Raw Brian Gewirtz was removed from the position last year and was replaced by Eric Pankowski. But Pankowski was removed early last month and no new head of creative for Raw has been named thus far. So, at the moment, nobody is, but I’m sure it’s being overseen by Head of Creative Stephanie McMahon.

From: Anti-Cewsh Army

So answer me this question…..according to the ever ‘wonderful’ Cewsh, Jeff
Hardy won’t go back to WWE because he loves his ‘drugs’….well like I said,
answer me this. The guy has been sober since mid-2011, and according so
SEVERAL has wrestled the best he has ever done in ages. Do you just have a
personal hatred for the guy and refuse to accept the fact that he has sobered
up, or are you just a bitter wrestling fan that is pissed he beat Aries for
the belt at Bound For Glory?

Cewsh: Jeff Hardy has been sober quite a few times. But the reason that I have to say that instead of just saying “Jeff Hardy has always been sober” is because his career is full of streaks of sobriety, followed by a self destructive burn out that seriously hurts the company he is working for. He has done it to both WWE and TNA twice, and the last time he actual got into a ring and attempted to wrestle a match under the influence, which could have resulted in a serious injury for himself, or his opponent Sting. To the best of my knowledge he has repeatedly refused to go to rehab and face his addiction, and I see no real reason why an addict should be trusted with the responsibilities of a being the face of a company.
Being an addict is an incredibly hard life, and he has my sympathy and support. But the reason WWE won’t sign him? Yeah. Drugs.

From: Brandon

Before Stone Cold had surgery on his neck.. Who was suppose to win the triple
threat match between him, triple h, and the rock at survivor series 1999??

Cewsh: Well Austin had been suffering from his injury for a number of months, so it’s pretty clear that he was always going to be pulled from the match so that he could have surgery and be replaced with the Big Show. That being the case, Big Show was likely always the planned winner.

From: Matt

Hey Rajah, I’ve been visiting your site since the late 90s, kudos on a great site! I remember back in the day you had a lengthy piece of the Bret Hart screwjob that occured in 1997. Could you send that to me again or post it back up on the site? I’d love to read it again. Thanks!

Rajah: Hi Matt, thanks for the comments and yes I still have it. It was actually written by Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer and republished with his permission. You can find it HERE.

Beyond The Mat Director Talks Jake Being Unhappy With The Movie, A Sequel

Barry Blaustein, the director of Beyond The Mat joined Inside The Ropes this past Thursday to discuss the movie, here are the highlights:

On Vince almost not letting him film the Royal Rumble 1999 event with Foley and The Rock:

Towards the end, wrestling took off during the making of the movie and I think Vince regretted letting me do this, because he didn’t have ownership of it. Originally Vince offered to fund the movie but I told him it’s a documentary and you can’t have the subject matter be the funder of the documentary. During the course of the filming the WWE took off and became very mainstream and at a certain point, one of the CEO’s…I was about to film the Royal Rumble match and I knew I needed that match. I told them like two months in advance that I’d be filming on this day and they said fine. The CEO called up and said “you’re not gonna be allowed to film, filmings over” I said it was unfair, unfair and I finally got to Vince. I said “I know you too well. You’re becoming your character, you tell me in your heart you know this is the right thing to do and you’re not screwing me over. Wrestlings riding high and all this stuff and everyone’s kissing your ass right now, but you know it goes up and it goes down and I was here when it was down and when it goes down again, I’ll still be here” So he agreed and said “Alright, but that’s it, this is the last day” I remember telling my crew, We gotta get everything cos we’ll never be allowed back here.

On Jake Roberts being unhappy with the movie:

I told him the same thing I told everyone “This is a documentary about professional wrestling, showing these guys as real human beings” I said it would probably go direct to video because originally we thought it would go straight to video. But there was none of this that he claimed we were doing it for charity or an anti drug thing.  I’ve never spoken with Jake since. I know he’s threatened me.

On a potential Beyond The Mat 2:

They kept asking me to do Beyond The Mat 2 and I have extra footage. i just didn’t think it would be as good. As a wrestling fan, wrestling fans are always being ripped off by promoters and I didn’t wanna contribute to that. I felt an allegiance to other fans. I thought if I do anything else, I’d want it to be something worth people putting down their hard earned money for.
