WWE RAW Results (8/12): Toronto, ON

The August 12, 2019 edition of WWE RAW took place at the Scotiabank Arena in Toronto, ON, and was the first episode after SummerSlam 2019.

– New WWE Universal Champion Seth Rollins comes out to the ring to kick off tonight’s show. Seth says he didn’t know if he had what it took to beat Brock Lesnar, and the last few weeks he hadn’t been as confident as he usually is. Seth says when he came out to the ring the fans came alive, and the fans took him to a place he’s never been, and it was a place only they could go together. Seth says in that moment, he knew he had what it took to slay the beast. AJ Styles, Karl Anderson, and Luke Gallows come out to interrupt. They get in the ring and AJ says they wanted to be first to congratulate Seth. But now that Seth is done with Brock Lesnar, he has to worry about AJ. AJ says he wants to challenge Seth to prove that he is a much better Champion than Seth. Seth says he always had respect for AJ, but he doesn’t anymore. Rollins says it doesn’t matter how beat up he is he doesn’t back down from a fight, and he accepts AJ’s challenge. AJ extends his hand for Seth to shake, and Seth is cautious. Seth shakes his hand, then they have a brief stare down, and AJ leaves with Gallows and Anderson.

– The Street Profits are backstage for a promo. They talk about SummerSlam last night, and they say the after-party went late last night. Sami Zayn interrupts and starts telling the Street Profits that the longer they’re here in WWE, the parasites in the crowd will suck the soul out of them. Sami says Seth is a good example, since he has become a pandering fool. Sami says he loved Becky Lynch, but now he’s so manufactured. Sami tells them it happens to everybody, and Samoa Joe is another example. Sami starts trashing Joe, as the camera zooms out to reveal Joe standing right behind Sami listening. Sami turns around and starts apologizing to Joe. Joe says he’ll give Sami a chance to go to the ring and get anything he wants off his chest now, and maybe he can prove to his country that he’s more than just Kevin Owens’ water boy.

– We see a graphic promoting the King Of The Ring tournament returning next week on RAW.

– Samoa Joe vs. Sami Zayn: Sami charges at Joe right off he opening bell and starts nailing him with right hands. Joe quickly comes back with the Coquina Clutch, and Sami goes to sleep. The ref calls for the bell after a short match.

– The Miz comes out for his match against Dolph Ziggler. Ziggler comes out next, but he’s not in his ring gear. Ziggler slowly steps into the ring with a microphone. The crowd chants “Goldberg” as Ziggler starts to speak. Ziggler says he hopes Miz is happy, because everyone knows Miz didn’t have a chance against Ziggler at SummerSlam, so Miz sicked Goldberg on him. Ziggler says he got speared so many times yesterday that he’s not medically cleared to compete tonight. Ziggler says “Miz screwed Miz,” because Goldberg injured him and now Miz can’t clean up the scraps. Ziggler says he also doesn’t want to indulge the blood-thirsty Canadians who want to see this match. Ziggler starts to walk away, but then he spins around and cheap-shots Miz. Ziggler starts stomping on Miz until the ref hauls him off. It looks like this match will happen after all.

Steve Austin Admits To Emulating Ric Flair's Style, Talks Moment He Realized He Was A "Star"

WWE Hall Of Famer “Stone Cold” Steve Austin recently appeared as a guest on The Dan Patrick Show to promote his new series on the USA Network, “Straight Up Steve Austin,” which airs after WWE RAW every Monday night.

Featured below are some of the highlights from the interview, as well as a complete video archive of “The Texas Rattlesnake’s” appearance on the program.

On when he realized he was a star: “I started feeling it one night in Chicago at the Rosemont Horizon (now the Allstate Arena). That’s one of my favorite buildings to work in, the favorite, because of it’s wood ceilings and the acoustics are so good in there. And the Chicago crowd is so crazy. Anytime you do something, you’re listening to that crowd and if you’re not listening to that crowd you’re doing it wrong because everything you do, you do it to elicit a response. Based on that response, you respond accordingly. So it was one night we were in a tag match and I started really feeling the energy from that crowd responding to everything I did. I said ‘hey man, this is coming on.’”

On building his character: “You kind of go out there and you’re learning. You’re learning who you want to be and I emulated Ric Flair when I first started out and when I was Stunning Steve back in Georgia and everybody because of my ability back then at the mechanic stage said ‘hey man, this guy right here is gonna be the next Ric Flair.’ Well, there’s never going to be the next Flair so, I was more of a technical wrestler back in the day. Then in ’97 when I got dropped on my head and almost got paralyzed and bruised my spinal cord, I had to modify my style and not be so technical and turned more into a brawler. That’s when I came up with the ‘Stone Cold’ Steve Austin thing and with the modified style, the gimmick, or the name, that I grew into, I realized that when I turn myself up to an 11, that’s who I am and that’s when everything started to work for me.”

On his heel turn in WWE not working: “Well, they revolted. They didn’t want to hate me. By that time they loved me so much. You always want to do something big at WrestleMaina. I didn’t think we had anything big that year, so I told Vince ‘hey man, I’ll turn heel.’ At a certain point, you just kind of flip and you think things are going to get hotter, but it has to be warranted. I was feeling flat going into WrestleMania 17, because I’d been hot for so long and I’ve always liked to be the bad guy anyway. So, that’s why I wanted to turn into the bad guy, so I could have fun. But, people didn’t like it.”

Report: Chair Shots To The Head Banned In AEW After Shawn Spears/Cody Incident

While one of the top matches featured on tonight’s AEW All Out pay-per-view card was built around a steel chair shot to the head, All Elite Wrestling fans shouldn’t expect to see anything similar any time soon.

The Cody vs. Shawn Spears match scheduled for tonight’s highly-anticipated AEW All Out PPV from the Sears Centre Arena in Hoffman Estates, Illinois was largely promoted around the unprotected steel chair shot to the head that Spears delivered to Cody at the AEW Fyter Fest show back in June.

After the show, AEW President Tony Khan spoke about the incident getting out of hand, as Cody was not intended to be busted open by the chair shot. The chair was “gimmicked” ahead of time, according to AEW Executive Vice Presidents Nick and Matt Jackson, The Young Bucks.

Regardless, Cody was busted wide open and needed several staples in his head to close the wound and Spears would go on to be dubbed, “The Chairman of AEW.”

Not anymore.

According to a new featured article at SB Nation, reporter James Dator spoke with an AEW source who informed him that the company will ultimately be banning such actions going forward.

In addition to the news about AEW essentially banning unprotected steel chair shots to the head, the article features in-depth comments from former WWE Superstar, Tough Enough contestant and co-founder of the Concussion Legacy Foundation, Christopher Nowinski.

Check out the complete featured article regarding AEW’s stance on unprotected steel chair shots to the head at SBNation.com.

NXT UK TV Taping Results (11/15): Hull, England (Spoilers)

Click:Candle holder

WWE kicked off two consecutive days of NXT UK television tapings from the Bonus Arena in Hull, England on Friday night for future episodes airing on the WWE Network as the build-up to the NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II live special on January 11, 2020

Featured below are complete results of the first night of NXT UK tapings. The report was written by Dei Owen (@deiowen) and F4WOnline.com.

Make sure to check back here at Rajah.com later today or tomorrow for a complete recap of the second day of NXT UK TV tapings from Hull, England.

NXT UK TV *SPOILER* RESULTS FROM 11/15 TAPING

NXT UK kicked off two straight nights of television tapings at the Bonus Arena in Hull today. Here are the results from night one:

– The show began with Andy Shepherd announcing NXT UK TakeOver: Blackpool II for 2020. The exact date of the event was not mentioned. This will be the second NXT UK TakeOver to emanate from the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool.

– Dark Match: Mark Andrews defeated Kassius Ohno

Andrews rolled Ohno up for the win. The crowd was energetic from the start.

– Trent Seven defeated Kona Reeves

Seven hit Reeves with the Birminghammer for the victory. After the match, the returning Eddie Dennis grabbed Seven’s hand and stared him down.

– A-Kid defeated Jack Starz

This was a very good technical showcase for both men.

– The Grizzled Young Veterans (Zack Gibson & James Drake) cut an in-ring promo and demanded an NXT UK Tag Team title rematch from general manager Johnny Saint. They stated that if if hadn’t been for the stipulation at TakeOver: Cardiff, they would still be the champions.

– Ridge Holland defeated Oliver Carter

Despite his very aggressive nature, hometown favorite Holland had most of the crowd on his side. Ashton Smith helped Carter get back up after the match.

– Alexander Wolfe defeated Ilja Dragunov

Wolfe’s victory came as a result of Imperium’s interference. After the match, Imperium beat down Dragunov before Gallus made the save. As the brawl came to an end, WALTER and Joe Coffey had a small tug-of-war with the WWE United Kingdom Championship.

– Piper Niven defeated Jinny (w/ Jazzy Gabert)

Niven cut a promo after saying that she is coming for Kay Lee Ray’s NXT UK Women’s Championship. She was then blindsided by the champion, but Toni Storm returned to make the save. Niven and Storm stared each other down afterwards.

– Eddie Dennis defeated Dreiss Gordon

The returning Dennis got the win with the Next Stop Driver. Dreiss was very impressive and had a lot of fan support.

– Noam Dar defeated Ashton Smith

Dar got the pinfall victory with a Nova Roller.

– Toni Storm defeated Killer Kelly

Storm made quick work of Kelly and put her away with the Storm Zero. Kelly is still yet to have a televised victory in NXT UK.

Kay Lee Ray attacked Storm following the match, then Piper Niven ran out to save her. Niven offered Storm a handshake, but she just walked away.

– The Hunt (Primate & Wild Boar) defeated The Outliers (Riddick Moss & Dorian Mak)

– Jordan Devlin defeated A-Kid

Tyler Bate came out to watch the match at ringside. Devlin got the win with the Devlin Side suplex, with that putting an end to a hugely impressive match from both men.

– Joseph Conners defeated Ligero and Travis Banks in a triple threat match

Conners pinned Banks with the Don’t Look Down cradle DDT. After being attacked by Conners on last week’s TV, Ligero and Banks teamed together during the early stages here. Conners got busted open on the bridge of his nose near the end.

– Imperium (WALTER, Marcel Barthel, Fabian Aichner & Alexander Wolfe) vs. Gallus ( Joe Coffey, Mark Coffey & Wolfgang) & Ilja Dragunov ended in a double countout

WALTER cut a promo after the match stating that no one on the NXT UK roster is able to beat him, then Tyler Bate ran out and hit him with a lariat and the Tyler Driver 97. The show finished with Bate standing tall.

Tickets for the first couple of episodes of NXT TV on the USA Network have sold out.

As noted, WWE announced this week that NXT TV will switch from weekly one-hour taped shows premiering on the WWE Network to weekly two-hour live shows premiering on the USA Network starting on Wednesday, September 18th.

In an update, tickets for the 9/18 show, as well as the 9/25 episode, both of which emanate from NXT’s longtime headquarters of Full Sail University in Winter Park, Florida, have officially sold out.

We noted earlier this week how WWE canceled the NXT TV tapings originally scheduled for 9/11 and 9/12 when the USA Network television deal was announced, but allowed ticketholders to transfer those seats to the first two episodes of NXT TV on the USA Network. As a result, both of the first two events were essentially instantly sold out.

There is no word yet regarding ticket information for future episodes of NXT TV on the USA Network, however we will keep you posted right here at Rajah.com as updates become available.
