Former WWE CW Champion On The Possibility Of Signing With AEW

Former WWE Cruiserweight Champion TJP recently took to Twitter to comment on Ricochet debuting on last Monday night’s RAW, apparently feeling that the spot should have been his own. He noted that he “wrote” the move that Ricochet used, adding that “I thought someone else turning my homework in with their name on it ended after high school.” He added that he was still happy for Ricochet, writing that “he’s really awesome and deserves a shot.”

Oh cool I think I wrote this ? https://t.co/TyNlPOkrFj
— ???? TEDDY PLAYER ONE ???? (@MegaTJP) February 19, 2019

I wish I was kidding…but literally I wrote that. Be proactive I guess…????‍??
— ???? TEDDY PLAYER ONE ???? (@MegaTJP) February 19, 2019

I thought someone else turning my homework in with their name on it ended after high school…
— ???? TEDDY PLAYER ONE ???? (@MegaTJP) February 19, 2019

Despite all that, I’m really happy for @KingRicochet because he’s really awesome and deserves a shot.
— ???? TEDDY PLAYER ONE ???? (@MegaTJP) February 19, 2019

TJP later added that Ricochet’s spot was likely the best shot that he could have gotten and that if he ever gets the chance, he will be swinging for the sun and three stars.

No. I won’t. That was my best shot. The rest is out of my hands.
— ???? TEDDY PLAYER ONE ???? (@MegaTJP) February 19, 2019

I’m doing my best. I promise you, I am. But they won’t let me off the bench, and they just gave the bat I carved myself to someone else for their at-bat. If I ever get to the plate, I promise you I’m swinging for the sun and 3 stars ?????? https://t.co/uiIJzzRkB9
— ???? TEDDY PLAYER ONE ???? (@MegaTJP) February 19, 2019

Despite his status with the company, TJP doesn’t seem interested in signing with AEW. When a follower asked him how soon he will be in AEW, TJP replied, “If it were up to me, literally never. I’m doing everything I possibly can to succeed here on the team I always wanted to play for, both on and off camera.”

If it were up to me, literally never. I’m doing everything I possibly can to succeed here on the team I always wanted to play for, both on and off camera. https://t.co/I9aQ3eidv0
— ???? TEDDY PLAYER ONE ???? (@MegaTJP) February 19, 2019

TJP was last featured in The Worlds Collide Tournament in late January, which has been his only in-ring activity this year. His last match on 205 Live was in early December, when he teamed with Mike Kanellis in a losing effort against Kalisto & Lince Dorado.

Note On Timing Of Recent WWE Releases, WWE Arm Wrestling Matches

As previously reported, WWE recently announced the releases of three Superstars – TJP, Hideo Itami & Tye Dillinger. Regarding speculation on the released talents possibly debuting for AEW at their Double Or Nothing Event on May 25th, all three would be able to appear if they are under WWE’s standard 90 day non-compete clauses as those would end before AEW’s first big event. The non-competes would end just a few days before Double Or Nothing.
Below is the latest episode of WWE’s “List This!” with Vic Joseph looking at 5 of the most intense Arm Wrestling matches in WWE – Scott Steiner vs. Triple H in November 2002, John Cena vs. WWE Hall Of Famer Mark Henry in 2008, “The British Bulldog” Davey Boy Smith vs. Ken Shamrock in 1997, Triple H vs. The Great Khali in 2008 and Vince McMahon vs. The Stooges & Chyna in 2009.

F4W NEWSLETTER: Figure Four Weekly: Recapping WWE TLC

When Daniel Bryan announced his emotional return to the ring, it was fairly inconceivable that he’d end up being a vicious and pompous environmentalist heel just eight months later. But the character change has revitalized Bryan and taken him to the highest points since the immediate aftermath of announcing his comeback. With Bryan completely buying into the change, “the new Daniel Bryan” has been far better in execution than it would have sounded on paper.

MONDAY NEWS UPDATE

Bryan and I will be back tonight talking Jon Jones, maybe the awards, some Raw and other news. You can send questions to tonight’s show to [email protected].

If you DVR New Japan on AXS, there was a second show on Friday night that had the only Hiroshi Tanahashi vs. Kenny Omega match ever held, from almost three years ago in Nagaoka. The match was really good, but what was more notable was the interview Omega did before the match. It was just another interview at the time, but if you watch the interview, realize where NJPW was at the time of the interview, what he said, and where things are now, it’s was kind of amazing.

The biggest individual losers in this UFC fiasco are probably Alexander Gustafsson and Cris Cyborg. Cyborg is probably losing 12.3 percent of her purse in the difference in taxes. If she was cut into PPV revenue and the show does 600,000 buys, this could easily cost her $185,000.

Corey Anderson, who is on the show, said: “If we all said No, we won’t travel again, would they just take Jones off the card and keep it in Vegas? Or book 11 new fights, continue the move to L.A. and keep the main event the same? A lot of money has been spent in travel fees for my family to be in Vegas for this fight. I’m not even mad, just disappointed in the company. I bust my ass every day, make sure my piss and blood is clean every day, and represent myself like a professional every day for? Just so clowns who sell a lot of tickets and make a lot of money could f*** up every day and still get a pat on he back and told, `don’t worry, it’s not your fault’ beacuse at the end of the day they sell?  I’m also currently on my five hour flight to Vegas with my wife, who is seven months pregnant on the border of not being able to travel and spent an hour and a half walking through Newark’s shit show of an airport, now we have to land, get our shit, figure out what’s next, load up and hassle through the airport, and travel again. The law says ‘drive sober or get pulled over.’ The UFC should be `piss clean or hit the streets’ even if you’re making loads of money. But again I’m not pissed just highly disappointed.”

Brian Kelleher wrote, “Can I have some of Jon Jones’ purse though as reimbursement to the family that I have flying down to Vegas and the hotels booked?” “We should all say no, see what happens. Then again, we’re all trying to make a paycheck and pay our bills so can we risk it?”

Free advice for people looking to make a stand. Don’t strategize and release it on Twitter.

Mike Mazulli, the head of the Association of Boxing Commissioners, wrote on Twitter his support of Andy Foster of the California State Athletic Commision and his decision to allow Jon Jones to fight. Both California and Texas were willing to license Jones immediately but the Forum in Los Angeles had a free date so it ended up in California.

Jon Jones is, after all, enrolling in VADA testing after turning it down last week. He agreed to be tested by VADA starting today.

“Jon Jones is certainly clean right now. That’s not questionable,” Andy Foster told ESPN. “The Nevada commission did not have enough time to get this thing done, but this is not about California taking a fight Nevada would not. And out of respect for Nevada, I’ve kept all the official working the fight he same as it would have been in Las Vegas.”

For tickets, which will be priced lower than usual, with the hope of a $1 million gate (they were hoping for $6 million at the T Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, which can’t make the arena very happy, but UFC is a major regular client), and a $300 front row price, go on sale at Noon on Wednesday for those who already have tickets to the show in Las Vegas, and you can get those tickets changed through 2 p.m. From 2-3 p.m., Fight Club members can get tickets and they will go on sale to the public on Wednesday at 3 p.m.

5/31 TNA Impact Viewers – how did the post-May Mayhem episode fare?

>

PWTorch editor Wade Keller presents a special Thursday Flagship edition of the Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast featuring a WrestleMania 36 Preview with ex-WWE Creative Team member and professional stand-up comedian Matt McCarthy.

(Search “wade keller” to subscribe in podcast app or CLICK HERE to subscribe in Apple Podcasts.)

This week’s TNA Impact viewership dipped from the “May Mayhem” special last week.

TNA Impact Viewership Tracking

May 31: TNA Impact drew 346,000 viewers Tuesday night on Pop TV, down four percent from 359,000 viewers for the “May Mayhem” edition of Impact.

The episode ranked #2 in terms of 9:00 p.m. EST viewership since Impact moved to one timeslot on Tuesday nights.

– DEMOGRAPHICS: Impact’s median age viewer was 54.5 years-old, falling outside of the desired 18-49 window.

As a result, Impact dipped in total adult 18-49 viewers and female 18-49 viewers. Impact held almost all of last week’s male 18-49 viewership, though.

The resulting split was 65 percent m18-49 and 35 percent f18-49, the widest gap in one month.

Takashi Iizuka to retire next month

Takashi Iizuka will wrap up his career next month.

NJPW Chairman Naoki Sugabayashi announced during a press conference tonight that Iizuka is retiring, and will be holding his retirement ceremony on February 21 during a New Japan Road event at Korakuen Hall. It isn’t known what his final match will be.

Iizuka trained at the NJPW dojo and had his first match for the promotion on November 2, 1986, facing Akira Nogami. He would go on to win the IWGP tag team championship three times: first with Riki Choshu in 1989, a second time with Kazuo Yamazaki in 1996 and a third with Toru Yano in 2012, who he also held the GHC tag team championships with.

Iizuka underwent a gimmick transformation when he turned on then stablemate Hiroyoshi Tenzan  in 2008, shaving his head and adopting a wildman persona, running through the crowd during entrances and ignoring rules, often using his iron fingers of death for DQ finshes. He first aligned himself with the CHAOS stable upon the transformation, then turned on them to join Suzuki-gun in 2014.

Since Suzuki-gun returned from NOAH in 2017, he has mostly wrestled in tag team matches in the undercard.
