Corinna Schumacher hints at husband’s progress in message of hope

Corinna Schumacher has publicly expressed what Michael Schumacher fans are considering as a message of hope regarding the health of the F1 legend.

Schumacher’s physical condition remains a mystery for the public, with the former driver’s family fiercely guarding its privacy since the tragedy that befell the great champion on the ski slopes of Meribel on December 29, 2013.

Just days before a group of Schumacher fans prepare to launch a new ‘KeepFightingMichael’ social media page on Facebook, Corinna offered a rare public comment which perhaps hints at her husband’s condition.

“Big things start with small steps. Many small particles can form a huge mosaic,” Corinna reportedly told fans.

“Together you are stronger, and that is exactly how combined forces of the ‘KeepFighting’ movement make it easier to encourage others.”

Fan club chairman Reiner Ferling expressed his hope that Schumacher will one day be seen in public again.

“Unfortunately, the time has come again, the sixth anniversary of Michael’s accident is coming around,” Ferling said.

“Six years full of hope that Michael will one day go out in public again.

“We know that Michael is in good hands, that he gets love, security and confidence. Michael can count himself lucky to have such a strong family behind him.

“As a fan club, we will provide all kinds of support that we can provide.”

Demarai Gray strikes to hand Leicester crucial victory over West Ham as pressure mounts on Manuel Pellegrini

Gray, one of nine new faces in a much-changed Foxes line-up, fluffed the opportunity to open his Premier League goal account for the season from the spot after only 12 minutes.

But the winger made amends after the interval to fire second-placed Leicester to a first league win in four games while inflicting a fourth straight home defeat on woeful West Ham, who have won just twice in 14 matches.

The natives are getting increasingly restless at the London Stadium, and Pellegrini’s decision to substitute record signing Sebastien Haller, rather than give him some support in attack, was met with loud jeers.

Captain Mark Noble, who had an on-field bust-up with Angelo Ogbonna at Crystal Palace on Boxing Day, was dropped to the bench, while the Italian defender was not even named in the squad.

David Moyes in line for West Ham return as Manuel Pellegrini sacked by struggling Premier League club

The 56-year-old Scot is the hot favourite to take charge of the Hammers for a second time, after Manuel Pellegrini was sacked on Saturday night.

West Ham co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold want an experienced figure to steady the ship with the club in serious danger of relegation – and they have earmarked Moyes as the ideal man.

In his previous spell at West Ham, the Scot steered the club to Premier League safety in 2017/18 having taken charge on a short-term contract in November 2017.

But, despite leading the Londonders away from relegation danger and to a 13th-place finish, Moyes left the London Stadium and Pellegrini was appointed in his place.

However, Sullivan and Gold are now ready to turn back to the 56-year-old, and are understood to have already opened talks over a deal.

As in his first spell in the Hammers hotseat, Moyes will look to bring in Stuart Pearce as his assistant if he does land the job.

West Ham finished tenth under Pellegrini last season but this term has been a disaster, with ten defeats in 19 league games leaving them at serious risk of relegation.

Pellegrini’s expensively assembled side had actually started the season in fine form, but a run of two wins from 14 matches – and four straight home defeats – has seen them tumble from 4th to 17th in the space of three months.

Saturday’s 2-1 defeat to Leicester at home proved to be the final straw for Sullivan and Gold.

January transfer window 2020: When does it open and close? Dates for when Premier League teams can spend this winter

The 2019 summer market saw the top-flight’s clubs splash the cash with a host of big-money deals done.

While the winter window tends to be a lot quieter, the thrilling first-half of the campaign could force sides to get the cheque books out again.

Manchester United, Arsenal, Tottenham and Everton have all endured difficult seasons and look in need of reinforcements.

One of Mikel Arteta’s main concerns will be to stop conceding so many goals, which was highlighted by the two sloppy ones they conceded late on to lose 2-1 to Chelsea.

Pep Guardiola praises quality of Sheffield United following narrow Man City victory

The victory, which was Guardiola’s 100th Premier League win, will not go down as a classic but the Spaniard was happy with how his side performed against a tough opponent less than 48 hours after the late defeat at Wolves.

United, beaten away from home for the first time since January, were left to grumble about VAR after Lys Mousset’s strike was chalked off for a tight offside before referee Chris Kavanagh got in the way in the build up to Sergio Aguero’s opener, and they were arguably the better side in the first half.

City’s class eventually told, with Kevin De Bruyne setting up Aguero before settling the match for good inside the last 10 minutes, but this was rarely comfortable for Guardiola’s side.

“Today I realised – I already knew it but when you experience it yourself it’s better – why Sheffield (United) are in the position they are in and didn’t lose one game away,” said Guardiola.

“It was an incredibly tough game because we played after less than 48 hours one of the most physical teams in the Premier League and we won it so a big compliment for the team again.”

Borussia Dortmund ‘ready to sell Jadon Sancho’ after beating Manchester United to Erling Haaland signing

Dortmund beat United and a host of top European clubs to the surprise signing of Haaland on Sunday, with the 19-year-old Norwegian striker signing a four-and-a-half year deal.

It is claimed a number of teams were prepared to pay the youngster’s relatively cheap £17.1 million release clause, and Man United had put the biggest contract on the table.

But Haaland opted for Dortmund as he believes he has the best chance to continue his progression with the German side.

Other claims suggest United pulled out of the running for the striker over frustrations with his agent, Mino Raiola.

But it appears any disappointment over the failed transfer could be short-lived, as Haaland’s arrival has cast fresh doubt on Sancho’s future at the Westfalenstadion.

According to The Times, Dortmund are now ready to listen to offers for the England winger ahead of the summer transfer window.

Sancho’s contract is due to expire in 2022 and Dortmund are apparently aware the teenager wants to return to the Premier League, with plenty of interested suitors.

And the report claims Dortmund may want to cash in on the forward next summer, putting a £100million price tag on the Englishman.

United have been linked with a strong interest in the 19-year-old, as have his former club Manchester City, who sold him to Germany for just £8m in 2017.

Premier League leaders Liverpool have been linked with an interest, too, with Jurgen Klopp said to be an admirer of the winger.

But Real Madrid and Barcelona are also rumoured to be keen, and The Times claim Sancho is ‘intrigued’ by the prospect of a possible move to Spain.

Sancho has been in fine form this season, scoring 12 goals and providing 13 assists in 24 games for Dortmund.
