Juventus’ new kit: Club believed to have switched from black and white stripes because it ‘reminds Americans of referees’

The club has ditched its famous black and white stripes with a monochrome look.

Naturally, when rumours of the new direction first surfaced, a number of fans were distraught – how dare adidas mess with tradition and history, they cried.

However, Football Italia have suggested the design has been chosen to appeal to fans across the Atlantic.

The rumour claims research suggests black and white stripes remind American fans of referees given this is what officials in baseball and American Football wear.

The 20 most creative players in the Premier League this season, according to stats

The Belgian superstar may have an uncertain future at Stamford Bridge but he’s put on a show this campaign with 15 assists.

It was an impressive total, one ahead of Bournemouth’s Ryan Fraser, and earned him the Playmaker award, which will no doubt be front and centre on his mantelpiece.

Hazard has plenty of competition in the English top-flight when it comes to incredible creative talents, with Christian Eriksen and Kevin De Bruyne amongst them. But was he really the best, according to advanced statistics?

Here at talkSPORT we’ve used UnderStat.com to check out which Premier League stars had the highest ‘Expected Assists’ for the campaign.

Expected assists (xA) definition

According to Opta, xA measures the likelihood that a given pass will become a goal assist.

It considers several factors including the type of pass, pass end-point and length of pass.

Adding up a player or team’s expected assists gives us an indication of how many assists a player of team should have had based on their build up and attacking play.

Scunthorpe United hire Paul Hurst as manager following relegation to League Two

The 44-year-old was sacked by Ipswich in October after just five months in charge and has been out of work since.

Scunthorpe were relegated to League Two on the final day of the League One season.

Andy Dawson had been in temporary charge of the club following Stuart McCall’s departure in March and he will revert to his position on the coaching staff.

Hurst had impressed at Shrewsbury, taking over in October 2016 when the club were bottom of League One and leading them to an 18th-place finish.

The Shrews finished third the following season, losing to Rotherham in the Play-Off Final at Wembley.

Watford handed boost ahead of FA Cup final with Manchester City as Jose Holebas’ available after red card rescinded

The 34-year-old defender was sent off in the final Premier League match of the season when he was judged to have pulled back Michail Antonio as he ran through on goal.

Watford head coach Javi Gracia said the club would appeal the decision and on Monday the Football Association announced it had been overturned.

This now means the defender will be available for Saturday’s FA Cup final against Manchester City at Wembley.

Chelsea news: Christian Pulisic ‘excited’ to play alongside N’Golo Kante and ‘can’t wait to meet him’

The Blues signed the 20-year-old in a £58million deal from Borussia Dortmund in January, but loaned him back to the German club for the rest of the season.

He will link up with his new Chelsea team-mates during their pre-season training camp.

Pulisic told the club’s website: “There are so many great players here already and I can’t wait to work with them all.

“I’m excited to play alongside N’Golo Kante, I think he’s a fantastic player and I can’t wait to meet him.

“Also there’s the guys in the backline, players like David Luiz and [Toni] Rudiger, I’m looking forward to working with them and I think it’s going to be really cool.”

Pulisic will hope to leave Germany with a Bundesliga winners’ medal.

Premier League final day round-up: Manchester City clinch title over Liverpool, Cardiff stun Manchester United, Chelsea finish above Tottenham and Arsenal miss out on top four

Anfield dared to dream when Glenn Murray gave the Seagulls a shock lead, but his strike was instantly cancelled out by Sergio Aguero before Aymeric Laporte, Riyad Mahrez and Ilkay Gundogan made it back-to-back titles.

The Reds did all they could – Sadio Mane’s brace sealed a 2-0 win over Wolves – and they will finish second with a staggering, record-breaking 97 points.

Elsewhere, Manchester United’s dreadful season ended in fitting fashion with a shocking 2-0 defeat at home to already-relegated Cardiff City.

Nathaniel Mendez-Laing struck twice to raise more questions over the appointment of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, whose side finish the campaign without a win in their last six games.

The top four might’ve been all-but decided already, but Tottenham scuppered a fine opportunity to leapfrog Chelsea into third by slipping to a 2-2 draw at home to Everton.

Fresh from their miraculous Champions League comeback in Amsterdam, Spurs took the early lead through Eric Dier before two quickfire goals from Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun turned things around.

Christian Eriksen equalised but it wasn’t enough to climb above the Blues, who played out a goalless draw at Leicester.

Arsenal needed an unrealistic eight-goal swing to usurp Tottenham in the top four and now the Gunners must win their Europa League final against Chelsea to qualify for next season’s Champions League.

Nonetheless, they still beat Burnley 3-1 thanks largely to a brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang – leaving the Gabon international level with Mane and Mohamed Salah as the league’s joint-top scorers this season with 22 goals.

The final day usually provides a ludicrous amount of goals and today was no exception.

Liverpool given home dressing room for Champions League final against Tottenham for ‘security reasons’

The Reds take on Tottenham on June 1 in the clash at Atletico Madrid’s Wanda Metropolitano.

Spurs had initially been drawn as the home team and Liverpool as the away side for the all English final in the Spanish capital.

Officials have decided to swap the teams around due to ‘security reasons’ with Jurgen Klopp’s side getting the luxurious home facilities.

Mauricio Pochettino’s side will have to make do with the much small dressing room.

Officials said they put a lot of thought into the decision taking into account the fans, Spanish police and the city on the whole.

Wanda Metropolitano stadium manager Fernado Fariza told Sky Sports News: “Before we took our decision, we made an evaluation between the away fans, the Spanish police and the city of Madrid.

“We took into account the number of fans of both of the finalist, the metro lines and the fan meeting points in the city.

“Taking into account all these issues, the final decision was that Liverpool fans should arrive at the south stand and they will have all their tickets in the south stand.

Mason Greenwood becomes Manchester United’s youngest ever player to start in Premier League history against Cardiff City

The striker became the youngest player to start for the Red Devils in Premier League history at 17 years and 223 days old.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer opted to make several changes for the game against the relegated Bluebirds after losing to Huddersfield Town.

Defeat at the John Smith’s stadium ensured it would be a return to the Europa League for United.

And Greenwood’s presence up front could become a regular occurrence next seaosn for Red Devils supporters.

Solskjaer has already hinted he will undergo major surgery on his under-performing squad, and Micky Gray has highlighted six players who should definitely be on their way out of Old Trafford, and one who may be given another chance.

Among those is Romelu Lukaku, who Gray says has ‘the worst first touch’ he has EVER seen from the Premier League striker and is not the right fit for Manchester United.

Speaking to talkSPORT host Jim White, the former defender said: “Chris Smalling and Phil Jones must leave the club.

“They have done their time, they’ve been good servants, but they’re not good enough to play for Manchester United anymore.

“Ashley Young I don’t think is good enough to play for Manchester United anymore either. I don’t think he’d get in any of the sides from seventh down to tenth.
