New Evolution Appearances, Ellsworth/SD 1000, Callihan Re-Signs

In addition to most of the current women’s division working the Evolution pay-per-view this month, several former female stars and women from the NXT roster have been confirmed to wrestle on the show. Two more names have just been announced to appear at the all-women’s event. PWInsider has just reported that recent Hall of Fame inductee Ivory will be appearing at Evolution. Additionally, Molly Holly will be in town for the event as well. It is unclear what their roles will be as of now, so it is possible that they both may just be making cameos rather than competing in matches. With Evolution set to take place on October 28th, expect to see more names from the past announced for the show in the days to come.
As mentioned earlier, former WWE Superstar James Ellsworth as one of several different personalities that WWE brought in to make an appearance on SmackDown’s 1000th episode last night. However, Ellsworth was never seen on the show, and he instead appeared in a backstage video on WWE’s YouTube channel. According to WrestlingNews.co, the Evolution segment from last night’s show ran too long, causing the segment that Ellsworth was scheduled for to be nixed, and it also led to the Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Rey Mysterio match to be cut short. WWE was also unable to extend the length of time for SmackDown since they are contractually obligated to start the Mixed Match Challenge at 10pm ET.
Fresh off of celebrating one year with the promotion, it appears that Sami Callihan has just agreed to stay with Impact Wrestling for the foreseeable future. Callihan made his Impact Wrestling debut at their Bound for Glory pay-per-view last year, and since then, he has proven himself and has become one of the most talked about members of the roster. He and oVe just defeated the team of Brian Cage, Fenix, and Pentagon Jr. at this year’s Bound for Glory event, and according to PWInsider, Callihan decided to re-sign with Impact not long after that match. This move comes after reports of Impact Wrestling officials encouraging their roster members to sign brand new and long-term contracts with the promotion.
