Grosjean in good spirits after Bahrain crash – praises Halo

Romain Grosjean will remain under observation in hospital overnight in Bahrain, the Haas driver saying he “feels good” in the wake of his miraculous escape from Sunday’s horrendous crash.

Grosjean was initially treated at Bahrain International Circuit’s medical center before he was airlifted to Manama for a more thorough examination.

Haas provided an update on Grosjean’s condition on Sunday evening:

“Following medical evaluation by doctors at the Bahrain Defence Force Hospital, Haas F1 Team driver Romain Grosjean will remain in hospital overnight to be treated for burns sustained on the back of both hands after his opening lap incident at the Bahrain Grand Prix.

“All X-rays performed on Grosjean came back clear of fractures.”

A smiling and good spirited Grosjean, who was visited by FIA president Jean Todt, provided his fans on social media with his own update from his hospital bed, and highlighted how the halo cockpit safety device – whose introduction he had initially criticized – had saved his life.

“Hello everyone, I just wanted to say I am OK – well, sort of OK,” said an upbeat Grosjean.

“Thank you very much for all the messages. I wasn’t for the halo some years ago, but I think it’s the greatest thing that we’ve brought to Formula 1, and without it I wouldn’t be able to speak with you today.

“So thanks to all the medical staff at the circuit, at the hospital, and hopefully I can write you quite soon some messages and tell you how it’s going.”

Haas team boss Guenther Steiner said he would assess on Monday the team’s situation regarding next weekend’s Sakhir Grand Prix and whether Grosjean would be fit to return to action.

“Knowing him, he wants to be back, but we’ll see that tomorrow when they take the bandages off because he has no idea what they look like,” Steiner said.

“For me at the moment, the only good thing is, nothing bad happened. For sure it wasn’t good, but he’s safe, he’s healthy.

“The rest we’ll see tomorrow when we speak with the doctors.

“I don’t want to speak about the back-up plan. The back-up plan is to have Romain in if he’s alright to do it.”

WWE Abu Dhabi Live Event Results (12/7): Alexa Bliss & Sasha Banks Make History

As noted, WWE ran an event at the Zayed Sports City International Tennis Stadium in Abu Dhabi on Thursday, making history as the first ever show to feature a women’s match in the United Arab Emirates as Alexa Bliss defeated Sasha Banks in the co-main event of the show.

Featured below are complete results of the show, courtesy of Simon Brady and F4WOnline.com.

WWE ABU DHABI LIVE EVENT RESULTS (12/7/2017)

The show opened with a Kurt Angle introduction video, with the crowd joining in with his “It’s true, it’s damn true” saying.

– Finn Balor defeated Bray Wyatt

Balor came out first and got a big pop. He did the “Too Sweet” a lot and the crowd responded to him. The audience reacted to Wyatt’s entrance by doing the firefly lights, but there wasn’t much noise for him. Wyatt went to leave up the ramp early on, with Balor doing a short promo saying Wyatt is going to come back or Balor is going to go get him.

Balor countered the Sister Abigail into the slingblade, then hit a dropkick in the corner and the Coup de Grace to win.

– The WWE Arabia hosts came out, but they got almost no reaction until they started speaking Arabic.

– WWE Cruiserweight Champion Enzo Amore defeated Kalisto to retain his title

Amore got a good reaction for his sing-a-long bit. He then cut an anti-Abu Dhabi promo about how he’s the best athlete to ever come to the city. He did the “S-A-W-F-T” chant, with the crowd finishing it for him and Amore saying he’s the only one allowed to say it because he invented it.

Kalisto got a lot of “Lucha” chants when he called for them. Amore played the cowardly heel. though the match was kind of boring. He retained by using underhanded tactics.

– Jason Jordan defeated Elias

Elias got cheers for playing the guitar and mentioning how beautiful Abu Dhabi is at first, drawing an “Abu Dhabi” chant. He then got nuclear heel heat for his anti-Abu Dhabi song.

Jordan didn’t get much reaction, but his big moves kind of got the crowd going. He sold his storyline knee injury a lot and won with an inside cradle. He limped his way up the ramp after taking selfies with fans.

– Braun Strowman defeated Kane by DQ

Most people seemed surprised by Kane’s presence when he came out. Strowman got decent cheers and lots of crowd participation for his roars. Strowman had the upper hand until Kane threw him into the steps on the outside. Kane teased hitting him with the steps, but he instead got out a table and set it up. Kane was later disqualified on the outside as he used a chair on Strowman when he was coming through the ropes.

Kane hit a couple more chair shots and went for a chokeslam through the table until Strowman turned it into a powerslam through it. Strowman played babyface, doing the volume test of which side of the crowd to throw his shirt to.

– Shadia Bseiso, who recently became the first Arab woman to sign a WWE contract, was brought out during intermission. A man from Kuwait appeared as well and they talked to the crowd in English and Arabic. A short video package about Bseiso’s journey played before the show and during intermission.

– Apollo Crews & Titus O’Neil defeated Curtis Axel & Bo Dallas and Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson in a triple threat tag team match

Crews got the most cheers at ringside, The Miztourage got a decent reaction, and Gallows and Anderson got “Two Sweet” signs thrown up at them. Axel was selling and wearing a neck brace like he’s been doing on television. He got an “Axelmania” chant after doing that gimmick in Abu Dhabi a couple of years ago. Axel and Dallas did a funny gimmick where they swapped the neck brace.

The match was decent, with Crews taking the beating for much of it. Gallows did a Stone Cold Stunner, including doing some theatrics when kicking the person he gave it to out of the ring after. O’Neil grabbed a small child on his way up the ramp and took a photo with them.

– Raw Women’s Champion Alexa Bliss defeated Sasha Banks to retain her title

There was a huge pop for the announcement of this women’s match, which was WWE’s first-ever one in the UAE. People rushed to ringside and a ton of cameras were taken out. There was a video camera at ringside for only this match. Both wrestlers were wearing full bodysuits.

Banks was super over with all sections of the crowd, getting more cheers and chants of her name than anyone on the card prior to this. She got most of the offense in the match, but Bliss retained with a roll-up while using her feet on the ropes for leverage.

Banks got emotional when discussing the moment in a backstage interview after the match (see above).

– The Shield (Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose) defeated Samoa Joe, Cesaro & Sheamus

This was an awesome match with great comedy and action. The audience sang along with Joe’s theme song, told Sheamus he looks stupid, and practically rushed The Shield when they entered through the crowd. There were “This is Awesome” chants before the match even started. The crowd chanted and sang happy birthday for Ambrose since today was his birthday. Reigns displayed a lot of personality on the apron and got a lot of chants from kids in the audience.

Joe pummeled Ambrose so much that Ambrose took a swing with a punch, missed, and spun around and fell over. Rollins and Reigns both found that hilarious. Reigns was more serious in the ring, but Rollins looked like he was having fun throughout. There was another funny spot where Cesaro and Sheamus got into it with the short referee and the ref climbed to the second rope to shout at Cesaro.

The crowd was hot throughout and this was definitely the best match of the night, with it getting the longest sustained period of noise I’ve heard at the last three years of WWE shows in Abu Dhabi. The Shield ended up winning with a triple powerbomb on Cesaro.

Triple H came out after the match, getting in the ring and squaring up to Reigns. He got on the mic to say that he didn’t fly halfway around the world for nothing and told Reigns he’s taking the Intercontinental Championship when they face off at tomorrow’s show. Reigns said he’s flown halfway around the world, and it’s still Reigns’ yard. Cesaro & Sheamus vs. Rollins & Ambrose was also announced for tomorrow.

Charlotte Flair Addresses Rumors Of Ronda Rousey To WWE

WWE SmackDown Live Women’s Champion Charlotte Flair recently addressed reports of Ronda Rousey coming to WWE.

During a recent interview with Brian Fritz of Sporting News, Charlotte spoke about the former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion possibly joining WWE.

“What’s exciting about Ronda being a part of WWE is all the different eyes that she attracts towards the women’s division as a whole,” said Flair. “I think that’s what cool. Ronda is an attraction. Any buzz that puts the women on a different or a higher level, I’m all for. She’s a star that would be a crossover star into our world and that’s exciting. That goes to show how far the women have come, that someone like Ronda Rousey wants to be a part of something that all the women have collectively built. My message to Ronda would be she knows where to find me. I’m on ‘SmackDown Live’ every Tuesday.”

Also during the interview, the SmackDown Live Women’s Champion spoke about this year’s Tribute To The Troops special, which airs tonight as part of “WWE Week” on the USA Network.

“We forget that people are away at war,” said Charlotte. “The monotony of our lives that we get caught up in work and friends and family and I think we forget that there are people fighting for our freedom and I think we take that for granted. Having that opportunity and experience last year and to be able to have the show this year, knowing what it means to them, to have a little change-up in their day, I was extremely honored to be a part of Tribute this year. I thoroughly enjoyed the fact that we didn’t do it at an arena, that we went to them.”

Triple H On What Type Of Deal Ronda Rousey Would Join WWE With, Criticism She's Facing

As noted, Paul “Triple H” Levesque took part in a media conference call on Wednesday to promote this Saturday’s NXT TakeOver: Philadelphia special at the Wells Fargo Center, airing live on the WWE Network.

Click Here: new zealand chiefs rugby jersey

During the call, “The Game” spoke at length about the latest news regarding former UFC Women’s Bantamweight Champion “Rowdy” Ronda Rousey possibly coming to WWE. Featured below are some of the highlights from the call.

On if Ronda Rousey comes to WWE under a full-time or short-term deal: “We had discussions and we’ve talked about a million different things. The point I’ve shared before is kind of where we’re at with sharing it, but she’s interested, we’re interested. We’ve had back and forth conversations. We’re busy. She’s busy. Getting to the point of being able to sit down and hammer something out has not happened yet. But the interest is clearly there.”

On Rousey being into pro wrestling and the criticism she has been receiving for possibly making the jump from the UFC: “You know the one thing about Ronda that I can share is she has loved the pro wrestling industry since she was a kid. The Roddy Piper connection is huge for her. She truly has a deep, ingrained thing for that. It’s funny because I see people say, ‘Oh, if she does sign with them that’s taking the place of somebody else who’s been trying to do this for years.’ She’s been training for this for a long time. I saw videos of her, I think, four years ago, doing this kind of on the side, when she was fighting. Still kind of doing the sports entertainment thing on the side. She’s been thinking about – and been very serious about – doing this for a long period of time. So, that criticism is kind of unfounded, because, man, if she does this – when that time comes – I think she likes it to the point where it’s going to be tough for her to not be all in. But we’ll see when we get there. I know people think – because she’s not fighting or whatever – she has a very busy schedule. So, us sitting down and doing some things is not the fastest process on the planet.”
